I did a quick search of the thread about this but I am still confused. Do I have to have the HTC GPS Tool open every time I want to use GPS?

No, its not necessary.

no you do not have to open gps tool everytime you use the gps. just run it thru once get a fixed on the satellites and use whatever gps program you choose and you should be good.

Should I close the program before I use GPS or do I have to keep it open for it to work. I can get a lock very quickly in the GPS Tool but I havn't gotten a lock yet in Google Maps. When I keep the HTC GPS Tool open with Google maps it just says initializing GPS but never does and when I close it it says seeking but never gets a lock.

Run the GPS tool and then close it once you get the locks. Open your GPS program and you should be all set. As far as google maps make sure its set to COM4 in the settings.

I installed phase one when it was first released and it would work for a little while, only if I used GPS tools first. I just got around to installing phase II and the problem persists. For a while after getting a lock with gps tools I'm able to use google maps and tom tom, but if I put it away and don't mess with it for a while I have to use gps tools before I can get any locks again.

Just receaved my TP today. Installed per instructions and changed the agps settings and it works fine.

Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0

I assume this is necessary even if you cook a ROM, but why? My Touch Pro will be arriving via Fed Ex tomorrow and I am just trying to get all my ducks in a row.

Also, currently on my Titan, in order to get locks working I had to use the Telus settings in QPST and in the registry, does this not work with the Touch Pro with PRI on it?

Thanks :)

Has anyone tried putting the Telus settings in QPST config and the registry to see if that resolves the issue?

Re: 12/25/08 Verizon GPS Fix v2.0

Verizon has the agps blocked on third party apps. Something I have yet to resolve other than on my personal device. The only positive side of agps is a faster lock time but you loose accuracy at times.

Not sure if you know this or not but I was asked a little while back by a titan user about the verizon agps settings. I found that VZW switched to server authentication which is why you guys are having to use other carriers servers for agps. It's most likely done that way to force anyone that wants to use verizons resources to use not only their software but pay for the service aswell.
