it does kinda bother me that there's people trying to make money off of information that was created strictly to help people. it bothers me more that people are so lazy that they actually buy the products though.
It's not your call to be calling people 'lazy' because they prefer people to create a product. Some people would just rather buy a product that they know is going to work, rather than risk damaging their own.

For me it was about not wanting to modify the stock adaptor. And I don't have an ipod cable, so I'd have had to get that too. So I bought a commercial cable.

I had already wasted enough time acquiring and breaking pin 4 on another adaptor, which didn't end up working at all. Wasn't sure whether it was my TP TV out or the adaptor, so I went with something that would tell me for sure. Didn't want to waste any more time on it.

I had asked this ebay seller a number of questions and received very good and very quick responses. He is giving me a substantial discount on the second one I'm buying, so yeah I'm giving a fair and honest review in his defense. I mentioned this site and he said yeah he reads it and its unfortunate that anyone is upset about this since it is possible someone figured out how he did it from the first few he sold on Craigslist a few months ago. Not a big deal though everyone has choices or else it would be a HongKong monopoly.
I'm not saying his is amazing or anything, just slightly better in quality design & functionality.
You're aptly named. I suspect you're calling ME a dumbass- and it's great to be called names because you're too incompetent to break a freaking wire. I bought an EBAY adapter for about $3, broke a pin and mated it with a $1 video cable and created a video cable. Morons like you argued that I was lying about the prices so I linked the EBAY auction, cited the exact make and model of cable - and even the store in Manchester, CT where I purchased it.

Since you failed at using this method, AS WELL as cutting the wire of your initial adapter - I'm sure you'll question my success. So when I get home, I'll take pictures of the TWO adapters I made - as well as screen shots of the results.

Seriously, there must be something badly wrong with you to have repeatedly failed such a simple task - and then go off ranting on a forum like this.

Back on topic - I have no problem with purchasing the newer cables this gentleman has offered, due to the functionality he's added. Almost no one has been able to add a switch to the modded HTC adapter, much less multiple outputs. I had a problem with people using the info here, and selling it directly for bloated prices - with nothing added in the process.

Yes indeed...I wonder just how you figured out it was you that I was referring to about being a lieing d.a.
Yes, I purchased the adapter which you linked...got 2 of them actually, as well as 1 other elsewhere which was similar just to be sure. It doesn't work. I'm not the only one here either that has tried it. You have been a jerk and a lier and at some point you may likely even be banned for running around here like a chicken with it's head cut off. Yes, I was a Raging Idiot for taking your advice initially, but now I know better. I hope that anyone that believes inyou and your miracles will go right out and buy your adapter so they can join the lynch mob forming to come after you. Even if by some miracle they shipped you a "special" adapter (that so far works only for you), then perhaps you will also keep in mind that it is still only good for one function, rather than the several functions of the one we are comparing against.
Also, I never said what I created didn't function...I just said it didn't look as good as I wanted it, as I'm well known to create very good work and would like to keep it that way. Just a recap so there are no other misleading, misdirecting, misquotes, or outright lies...

I'd say you have the iq of a gerbil but for you - that may be a compliment. Just to paraphrase your quotes: "I'm incompetent and failed to produce a product that either doesn't function or looks horrible. So YOU'RE the dumbass for succeeding and posting it on here! By the way, I'll rip on you for failing to provide additional functionality that you never claimed!"

BTW - keep ranting, and keep ignoring those others that have had success in making cables on their own. Obviously the guy you purchased yours from has some sort of magic powers - and you can keep throwing your money at him. Also, you offering to sell adapters at bloated prices so other people can make their own where you failed, isn't hypocritical at all.

Re: Video Cable on Ebay

This thread has taken on a nasty tone that was never intended. Initially, all I wanted to mention was that the guy on Ebay has produced a cable that I believe is worthwhile. if you want to make your own go-ahead, but the guy on Ebay that I mentioned is not ripping anybody off.

I don't think he is either! (anymore). His first version of the cable was simply the modification explained here for everyone's benefit. You can confirm that by looking at his closed EBAY auctions. The more recent versions add functionality beyond the commercial cables, and what individuals have done. That might be a good deal for someone and doesn't directly leach off of other's ideas.

The nasty tone was jumpstarted by Raging Idiot insulting me and others who have successfully produced diy cables. Just because he can't produce a successful, attractive cable shouldn't give him license to insult those who have - or accuse them of lying.

Hoddy4, I was planning on posting pics of the two cables I've made when I get home - but if you think that'd be too off topic for your thread (as thread starter), then I won't.

That's right. It's funny how it's always the ones that start ranting and not making any sense that are the the ones that claim it is everyone else that is ranting.
It's half clever obfuscation for purposes of misdirection... but it won't work with this crowd. People here are too smart for that type of rhetoric.
It's nice to know the options, but outright lies (for what purpose) which don't work, I think everyone will agree, is not very beneficial here.

Pollo, No need to paraphrase, my quotes are right here:

The only liar is the idiot that admitted on this very thread an inability to use super glue on a plastic surface.

Regardless, users will read this thread and the various diy threads to make up their minds. As opposed to taking the word of our resident Baghdad Bob.

Re: Video Cable on Ebay

thats the only reason i keep pushing the idea that cutting a blue wire is as simple as....cutting a blue wire. i don't want people reading this, and getting the impression that it takes more than cutting a blue wire, because that's really all it is. cut the freakin blue wire. that's it. cut it. plug in ipod cables. done done and done. there's no need to spend money when you don't have to.
