Re: Graphics Performance issues?

Im not sure on how to run a benchmark, but anyways, heres the data i just got on core player, the video i used was about 640*350... im not sure what the exact ratio is as core doesnt say

Average speed : 173.17%
Video frams : 539
Audio samples : 1606307

Bench Time: 00:20.771
Bench Frae Rate : 25.950
Bench Sample Rate : 77334
Bench Data Rate: 1.49 Mbit/s

Original Time : 00:35.969
Original Frame Rate : 14.985
Original Sample Rate : 44100
Original Data Rate : 857 Kbit/s

---

i have no clue what all this means, but all id did was take a video that ran like crab on my old pro, cut off tf3d for benchmark sakes, ran the file. Mind you its .avi, it runs very good. QTV with high quality and always smoothing

hrm ... what kind of video is that that original framerate is 15 fps? could you try it with a higher framerate video?

Try this trailer http://rapidshare.de/files/41053549/...0_128.avi.html , then talk.
Use Core Player 1.2.5 with Qtv, High Quality, Smooth On. BEST FIT
My results: 77.99% in DD, 87.34% in Qtv.
Samsung Omnia: 134.21% (DD)

Re: Graphics Performance issues?

sorry but im gettin the similar results as gobmonster on my full movies.

143.27%
frame rate: 35.818
bench data rate 1.10 Mbit/s

original framerate 25
orig data rate 628 kbit/s

like ive said its all about the encoding and doing so properly. Performing right with the Omnia means theres more to this than meets the eye

Re: Graphics Performance issues?

It's about the amount of data. A data rate of 628 kbit/s is not sufficient.. Just try the clip from the link. It has 1.62 Mbit/s @ 24 FPS.

Re: Graphics Performance issues?

103.19%
bench frame/data- 24.766/1.33Mbit
orig frame/data- 24/1.29Mbit

Im sorry but its how you encode and my movies run smooth at 130-150% whatever the data rate may be.

I dont think you quite understand how this benchmarking process works. The original data/frame rate is what YOU encoded, an input value, and means nothing towards the output number and what you see. Whats important is the output (benchmark) numbers which are both in the 1.1-1.3Mbit range. You can jack it up all you want to 100Mbit data rate but if its only outputting/benchmarking 1.3 then its only outputting 1.3 either way.

After all how important is engine horsepower on a car when the wheel HP is whats important, the actual output not what in theory it should be. If a 650hp engine makes 425 at the wheels and a 500 makes 425 at the wheels then its going to be the same speed! I dont see how it matters what the input data rate is when they benchmark practically equal.

I personally dont care how many numbers people quote or try to skew, because what I have it at runs perfectly smooth and fluid at ~140% and 35fps output which is right up there with the Omnia and other devices. No stutters or lag what so ever

I'm about to try this now.

I think people are getting lost and what i was saying about my device. Its performing better than my last tp, doesnt mean its performing better than anyone elses, but my last one (from best buys first batch, build date 10/16 i think), it didnt perform as well video wise.
---
Edit, i dont have coreplayer 1.2.5, i have 1.3, it might affect these benchmarks, im going to run the video all the way through on both settings (qtv and dd)
---
QTV: 89.39%
DD: 78.61%
RawFrame: 79.90%

Ran them till end, pretty much on par with what you got.

Re: Graphics Performance issues?

@SprintTouch08 I understand.. but I would like to omit the encoding step, I would like to copy the movies (nonHD) from PC to device without doing any conversion (encoding takes some time). Plus the storage memory is not a problem nowadays.

That's why I want TP to be capable to deal with high "bandwidth" divx/xvid movies (say more than 1.6 - 2 Mbits/s).

@gobmonster I see.. thanks

Happy holidays everyone!
