I see nothing wrong with that number and obviously people getting under 100% are doing something wrong with encoding their video optimally for the device.

The LARGEST flaw in the xda/wmpoweruser video test is theyre comparing a video played on DIRECTDRAW getting 170% to a RAWFRAMEBUFFER at 400% on the Omnia. does anyone else see the inherent flaw in that logic? (rawframebuffer is NOT using the 3d drivers, thats why).

Again the people complaining are the ones using it for off purposes like playing video games and such. if you have a properly encoded movie then it will run just fine and smooth, right along with the Omnia and other such devices. i seriously doubt HTC engineers sat there and said hey lets make sure this graphics driver was optimized for games like Quake. The video player runs just fine on it which is what their goal was

basically the problem is being GREATLY exaggerated past what it is. i wont deny it could be better, but its not as horrible as people are making it out to be. This is simply another case of people jumping on the bandwagon of an hyped internet article without thinking for themselves first and foremost.
My issues are strictly with videos. These are VGA videos encoded for my Axim X50v. I have yet to break 100% benchmark on any of them, which leads to clear visual slowdowns.

I am not going to re-encode them in FLV, that's an unrealistic and undesirable solution. Xvid or Divx encoding should be fine, that is the standard to work to.

Can we all please get on the same page before discussing further, and settle on a video clip to compare, so we can be sure we are getting uniform performance out of our devices? If someone's device is returning 20% better benchmarks than everyone else's, then that is the reason that person does not feel graphics performance is a problem, and we should look into just what the difference is.

This is a Pro on the left and the Mogul is on the right. Wow, Mogul is sooo much smoother. I always felt that my older Mogul had a smoother look to it using opera 9.5. And I have tried using all different types of roms including the ones with larger pagepools and even tried upgrading to the newer Opera 9.5. But they all dont scroll as smooth as the older Mogul in which had pwerformance issues too. Could it be the resolution?

gobmaster, try this:
My results: 77.99% in DD, 87.34% in Qtv.
Samsung Omnia: 134.21% (DD)
86.42% in Qtv here ... very noticeable slowdowns/stutters during playback.

Re: Graphics Performance issues?

is this also related to the slow response when switching from portrait to landscape and then back to portrait?

Likely not. That's not a terribly intensive graphics load.

Re: Graphics Performance issues?

I read somewhere that the gps lag people are experiencing isnt from the actual gps chip or program or gps drivers. It is actually a graphics issue. Where the screen doesnt refresh fast enought to keep up with the gps chip.

Re: Graphics Performance issues?

You know at the XDA forums with the Hologram VR, someone posted some ATI D3D drivers, after I isntalled those, I noticed that the graphics performance was a lot smoother. TF3D was really fast, and the Youtube app played a lot less choppyness.

I don't know... these 'issues' that everyone is talking about is something I'm not too worried about. If HTC comes out with a driver to please the masses, so be it. However to me, I'm enjoying what I got as a music, web and video gadget. I don't play many games, mostly card games and maybe a few dingy arcade games on it, but it's no gameboy or PSP and I never really expected that much from it.

Ya granted, people want an iPhone killer cause it does games really well, but gameplay is 50/50 on the experience.

I don't know, maybe I'm just more appreciative that I have a Touch Pro then sitting here reading that there's a potential graphics issue that needs to be resolved. Cause quite honestly, I love my phone. But all to ther opinion of course, I'm not trying to steer up trouble.

Anyways, has anybody else tried these drivers? Maybe your phone will be more bearable for video performance, cause it definitely is making my phone really more awesome then it already is.

ENJOY (sorry if this info is late btw)

Re: Graphics Performance issues?

Yeah I tried those drivers, and I noticed a performance increase ONLY in the hologram app lol. If we can find something that uses direct3d then we might see better performance though. Touchflo did seem a little smoother after installing the drivers, but I didn't notice anything about youtube. Youtube always ran good for me.
