So it would cost maybe $6 to have separate adapters that give you all the usability of the product that came with the Touch Pro.
I'm not saying NOTto patch one if you have the elements & time to do it i'm just saying for some it might make sense to buy the actual cable. Show me a link to a Mogul adapter for $3 shipped and besides that I don't think that adapter would work because it is not extUSB it only has standard miniUSB pins not the EXTra pins that pass video signal, correct? Apparently It doesn't work for just plugging in a 3.5MM composite cable, you have to do additional patching on 4 connections and if you have ever patched an RCA cable it is fairly difficult to get a reliable patch that stays durable and signal clean.

Re: Video out cable

Personally, I only made my cable because it looked like a fun little project. Honestly I have not used it other than testing to see if it worked when I was finished. Nice to have around and may end up using it later.

Glad I made it non the less....all part of this fun (somewhat addictive) hobby I stumbled across.....

Oh, and FYI the Mogul adapter works fine - thats what I used. Thats why you break off pin 4, so I does recognize it as a video cable....if my memory serves me correctly.

You've never played Macgyver? Wow, that's like the best game ever. Toss you 3-4 random objects, give you 5 mins, and see what you can make from it. Macgyver's makeshift devices are feasible too, and you could do the same.

Exactly, Mcguyver is one thing as I have been one many times, but then (scamming) *****ing at your carrier about how their phone doesn't work properly like USB sync and how you deserve a replacement is another. A good way to render your phone useless is accidentally fubaring the USB chain. Believe me I learned the hard way by using cheap connectors and ruining a $600 phone, which failed/shorted 30 minutes before a $5000 contract job that I was in transit to in the middle of a totally unfamilar Atlanta downtown and all of my contact numbers, GPS directions and info for the job were now gone. Talk about Sh****g your self....

ha well i dont think anyone will blame you if you say youll never mess with your miniusb plugs again.
yeah it may save 5-10 dollars but if you mess up you may have to pay more... and youll certainly waste more valuable time.
too much to lose not enough to gain IMO

Re: Video out cable

Well, I just followed up the other thread about pin 4 by confirming it works. I opened up the box, though, and cut the cable for pin 4 instead of breaking the connector so I can add a switch or fix it again if I want. It probably took me about 5 minutes total (including posting my results) and cost me $0. It'd take me at least that long to order it online and another week for them to get it to me (if it's in stock), and then I have yet another proprietary cable. I did have an old iPod video cable to use lying around, though.

You lack reading comprehension which explains your stubborn lack of understanding why someone would want to do this.

I recommended the $3 adapters to give back headphone and headset functionality. Not so you can do this mod with.

I've already modded one cable by using this $3 adapter and patching in an RCA cable. It was fun and cheap. This suggestion is much easier.

You also overstate the cost of the camcorder cable - I bought one from a dollar store once. Also - you can do an online price search to find them for under $2 shipped. Most people already have them from other devices.

Re: Video out cable

I say close this thread it has become a p*ssing match between those of us who like to do homemade projects to be entertained and those who think that oem and store bought is the way to be.. bottom line here - there is more then 1 way to get the cable - wether home made or retail purchase the cables work... and they get the job done..

So.. I Vote for close the thread.. whos with me

Cool! Could you post a link to one of the easily found $3 shipping included adapters and $1 Camcorder AV cable or what dollar store it is at so I can get one or are you going to keep challenging with conjecture?
