It's been almost 3 months now and I've noticed the back is turning quite purple on the edges again. Really all my TP has seen is gentle pocket time, and I haven't noticed any color come off in my pockets but it's definitely coming off the case. Time for me to hit it with another dose of black tonight probably.
My cover is turning redish/purple around the edges too. Kind of like a black Sharpee marker on plastic color.

Gonna redye and go after the blue next.

Re: A $1.48 goes a long way... Black Battery Cover!

i used spray paint to paint mine, it looks good.

i wanted to try something different. got myself a new cover ( free from my local sprint store) sanded the cover down a little ( mainly to ruff the surface a little bit for the paint) and went to town... i used flat black

So did you do a Diamond battery cover or a Touch Pro battery cover?

You need to upload your photos to www.Photobucket.com then get the link from Photobucket and paste into PPCGeeks

I did the Touch Pro Cover!

Hmmm, so what are you guys doing from preventing the lens of getting dyed? Since it says to just put the cover in the pot.

I put a small peice of scotch tape on both sides of the lens. I dyed another cover without tape. I compared them and the unprotected cover had a purple tint to the glass

Re: A $1.48 goes a long way... Black Battery Cover!

I would guess that certain dyes might have a more adverse affect than others. I plopped mine in the pot with no masking and it came out fine.

However...

It nevers hurts to take the extra precaution and mask if you have your doubts...

Scuff marks/abbrasions on the lens may "attract" more dye than a brand new lens so take this into consideration.

Re: A $1.48 goes a long way... Black Battery Cover!

mayonesa, that famous decal looks sweet. I have a question though, i have dyed mine a single color already. What type of material did you use to create the mask for the logo? i have gotten a vinyl decal printed in the shape of my websites logo, and i can't get it to stick to the battery cover at all. should i use a different type of adhesive on the vinyl, or should i use an entirely different material period?
