Re: Does anyone else have a crack in the chrome?
And now the run-around begins!!! Not having fun with Sprint at the moment. On the phone, they say, no problem. Bring it to the store and they will replace it free of charge. Now the stores say, we don't know anything about it and can't help you since I don't have a Sprint account. Well, I still paid $625.00 dollars for a device they sold me that has a known issue and is supposed to be replaced. It's in their system to do so, yet the store won't even look because I have no account. I'm getting pretty pissed!

Re: Does anyone else have a crack in the chrome?
I think you will have a hard time getting support through Sprint. Think of them as any other retailer after you purchase a piece of electronics. After their advertised exchange window they are going to send you to the manufacturer for an exchange.
The reason they do it for us Sprint users, they subsidize the phones, they sell them, they even do some repair work..... they don't want faulty hardware as an excuse for not using their service. Call HTC! That road will be less painful... and make sure you tell them it is significant!

Re: Does anyone else have a crack in the chrome?
Ok, so here are some of my pics.
Here is the phone that went bad on me..... it started out as a vertical hairline crack that spidered and started to crumble! Eventually turned into a hole! Strangest thing as my phone is always in a case and is very rarely carried around (left in car while at work, when at home it sits in one place, and I am always at work or at home)..... Pay attention to the corners..... pristine.... its never been dropped! Today I got my NEW phone from Sprint. I am definitely a happy camper. The return package is big enough only for the phone..... I am thinking I will keep the battery and the stylus on the defective phone..... is this ok or will I be charged for that? I checked the new phone.... not a refurb! w00t. |

I'm sure thats a pretty safe assumption, but I just had to double check to ensure it really was new... I am completely satisfied with Sprint's customer service.

Re: Does anyone else have a crack in the chrome?
Greetings. Over the past couple months, i was realy happy to skip over this thread and say "thank goodness it hasn't happened to me". Well today i took of my gel case off to clean the screen, and noticed 2 spots on the chrome ( edge above the stylus) that look like a spider web. The cracks are about 2" apart from each other, and look more like a broken windshield. Grrrrr!! This thing has been in a case for 95% of its life and ive never ever dropped it.
If i knew for sure that the cracks would end here, and not grow, i wouldnt really care. But after reading this whole thread, it sure sound like they'll only get worse. I'm usually not too concerned over cosmetic issues (like a ding in the plastic, scuff marks, etc..) but if this sh*ts gonna peel and get crazy ugly, its not acceptable. I'm gonna hot the local sprint store and see if they'll swap it out. Guess there's worse things in the world if they don't, but i'm really hoping they will. Wish me luck? dschoenike |

Re: Does anyone else have a crack in the chrome?
Mine cracked a few days ago. I've had it less than 30 days. I took it to the store, and they said absolutely no exchanges for physical damage, even within 30 days. I mentioned the memo/recall, they said that only covered chipping, not cracking! I asked to speak to a manager. They said "no." I asked to cancel my account, they said "no, you have to call *2 to do that."
So, I called *2. I mentioned cracked chrome, and within 5 minutes they had ordered me a new unit. Pretty frustrating to have such a crappy store to deal with. FWIW, I was able to super glue the cracked chrome back together and it looks almost flawless. |

You only return the phone and battery cover. Per HTC standards, used batteries are NOT to be redistributed
