Re: How do you like your Touch Pro?

After owning a mogul, touch, and a diamond, the touch pro is by far my favorite all around phone. I've installed JD's ROM and it hasn't frozen at all since.

My only two beefs are pretty minor (though the first is kinda killin me):

Slider mechanism has a ton of play - I don't get why they couldn't make it tighter like on the Mogul and Titan. I'm almost to the point where I want to take it apart to see if I can shim it a bit to get rid of the play.

Hard KB backlight stays lit for a millisecond before going off and when you really need it, you end up having to just blindly stab at any key to get it to turn on again.

I can relate to this, in fact that's pretty much one of my only complaints. The good thing is, I'm getting practice on the keyboard out of this and I'm now able to guess the location of the key correctly without using the backlight (in most cases), so all is well .

Re: How do you like your Touch Pro?

I noticed at least one person who mentioned the loose screen part. I got a touch pro and I got one for my wife. My screen is noticeably looser than hers. When it's closed and the QWERTY slider action is from 9 o'clock to 3 o'clock, mine will noticeably wiggle between 11:30 and 12:30. The slide action is nowhere near as crisp.....so I'm sending it back and getting a replacement one. Should be here tomorrow or Friday

Now I have to try to remember all of the tweaks I've done. Doh! Good thing there's the essential tweak thread!

Wait, 9 to 3? it can rotate 45 degrees? (assuming you meant you were holding the phone at 12, and it could twist from there, to 9 or 3.

Re: How do you like your Touch Pro?

More than happy, more than I expected. I had the Diamond wasn't impressed. don't know why, but I use the TP alot more and enjoy just looking at it. I have had many PPC/SM units and hand helds.

I was thinking the same thing when I read the posts, that it seems they are new to PPC and are comparing to some standard LG, Samsung, Nokia or Moto phone..

OMG I have to charge this thing everyday, my other phone used to last a week before I had to charge it... lol?

Maybe you got the Touch Pro Prostitute Edition! Just kidding...

Seriously though, I can't help but read all of the posts on this thread and elsewhere and think that most of the problems come down to three categories:

1. Legitimate hardware issues probably due to a bad production batch (which explains why more Best Buyers are having problems and the Sprint batches were delayed (generally speaking, of course).

2. Unfamiliarity with Windows Mobile and/or TouchFlo3D due in some cases to newness to Windows Mobile and not reading directions/not experimenting with the phone to learn how to properly use it.

3. True PPCGeeks who just complain about all the HTC/Sprint stock stuff and are gonna gripe to gripe until they find the perfect custom ROM.

None of this is meant as a criticism to those three groups, it just means (in my opinion) that people need to either have the phone replaced through Sprint rather than Best Buy, spend more time with it and really learn how to use it, or just get cracking on their own tweaks.

Of course, in some cases a few people just need to step back and realize, "Wait a minute. This is how I use my phone. This phone doesn't meet those needs." Then they need to take it back and swap it out for something that meets their needs rather than moan and groan about it.

No, with the screen vertical, the slider moves the screen left/right or 9 to 3.....just trying to give reference to how it wiggles/rotates rather than as part of the slider action.

Yeah, I realized that could read rather inappropriately. Definitely just a hardware issue on my part. The only other issues I haven't figured out are because, while a nerd, I'm new to winmobile and finding the right ROM and various hacks
