Re: Touch Pro & Orb.

I wanted to give some insight on the video streaming issues with orb.

I'm running IE6 and WMP. At first I was getting very choppy streaming which was very frustrating since I was getting much better performance from my Vogue!

I made one simple change that I don't fully understand, but it worked!

I changed the view in IE6 to "desktop" and no more choppy video in orb. The only thing that I can think of is that are some bandwidth changes that go along with the desktop view.

I know not everyone is running IE6, but you could try making a view change in the older version of IE to see if you get the same result.

Open IE>Menu>View... change from mobile or one column to desktop.

Hope this helps.

Take care!

Re: Touch Pro & Orb.

I have a feeling that it is the PRO because Kinoma says they cant replicate it, I have been told to email support because i have the full version, they requested that i setup a test account to my orb for them, still have not gotten to do this yet... Its a shame because this is the main reason why I bought the app, hopefully they can findout what is going on with the sync issues.

Seems to get worse if i seek to a specific part of movie or show. There is no buffering besides for a few seconds at the beginning just the audio problems. Its been like this since i got the pro NOT since kinoma updated to new version (made no difference with update still lagged audio). any help appreciated.

Looks like Kinoma doesn't support TV.

Re: Touch Pro & Orb.

Kinoma isn't user-customizable to where I'd want it. The Orb functionality doesn't allow browsing by folder, it steals your file associations, Youtube function is censored (music videos are blocked), and the music player's file scanning upon first time startup freezes the app. It HAS a very nice UI, just missing critical features and customization options that I would like to have.

PIE / WMP for Orb, Skyfire for Flash Videos, S2P or the stock TF3D player for Music.

Re: Touch Pro & Orb.

I use HTC's YouTube app for YouTube. Kinoma's YouTube player is great but it doesn't show video in high res like the HTC's player.

I have tried both and imo Kinoma Play (paid version) looked better.

That and also youtube in high quality takes much longer to buffer and sometimes buffers in the middle of the video unlike Kinoma Play

Re: Touch Pro & Orb.

Yes the YouTube player does buffer a lot... I haven't tried the pay Kinoma version. I won't considering buying it until TV works and it supports our higher res screens. I love Kinoma's music streaming capabilities and the other features. It's definitely a great player.

All I can say is IE6 with TCPMP or WMP works perfectly, however, with Opera the video is so gawd awful choppy it's not funny - no matter which player. It's all about not using Opera, I don't see anything wrong with IE in any mode. If I get some time, I'll watch the CPU usage of Opera to see if that's what's slowing it down, or it's polling to see if the app that it opened with the downloaded file really opened. In general, I stay away from Opera when playing DL video.
