This issue has been already addressed to Sprint tech employees. this e-mail was recieved t his morning
Known Issue: HTC Touch Pro Chrome Sides damage caused when device is dropped from approximately ear-level. When the device is dropped from approximately 5 feet under certain conditions, the device can suffer damage to the chrome sides. Damage seen can be a crack or significant chips in the corners. Impacted ESN Range : A1000007800572 through A1000007805C7A Instructions: • If the user has significant damage to the chrome side as a result of a drop, replace the HTC Touch Pro free of charge. CE is working to improve this user experience in a future hardware upgrade/enhancement. The new hardware will be in inventory November 2008.

Before I put a strap on my TP, I dropped it over 12 feet from the top of slide to the hard wood below. The battery cover popped off and there was no damage at all. My first Tp and 2nd one fell a few feet and both had cracks in the chrome.
