To perform a hard reset
1. Pull out the stylus.
2. With the device turned on, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER
buttons, then press the RESET button with the stylus tip.
3. Release the RESET button, but continue pressing the VOLUME DOWN and
ENTER buttons until you see this message on the screen:

4. Release the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons, then press the VOLUME UP
button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the
reset.

Please remove this post, as it only works on the GSM version.

Re: Update: Hard-reset your Pro when you get it (conspiracy?)

quick question on the hard reset. Ive read all of the tips on hard resetting the phone so everything works better, but ive never had any clarification on exactly when u do it. my pro should be here within the next few days so should i hard reset it before i turn it on for the first time? or is it ok for me turn it on and play around with it before i do it? also, do i do both the hard reset AND the clear storage reset or just one?

Clear storage and "hard-reset" are the same thing.

The only reason I instruct both ways, is there are plenty of times where we can "accidentally" screw up our software so bad that we cannot get to that option in the control panel.

I used the "quick" method of pressing reset, holding volume-down, d-pad ok, and then letting go of reset and holding the power button. I did this, performed the hard-reset, then once my phone got to the graphical stuff like windows was booting, I did it again... you can't hurt anything by doing it several times...

Make sure that you didn't Enable the "Cleartype in Landscape Mode" in Diamond Tweaks. This will cause the suggestions to come up blank in addition to messing up some of the menus. Apparently it also causes other problems with programs in landscape too.

Re: Update: Hard-reset your Pro when you get it (conspiracy?)

well i got my touch pro friday and had a hard time getting sprint to turn it on saying i'll have to change my plan(wtf) so while i was battling sprint trying to "jive" me i was playing with the phone while on uber hold and saw some of the kinks ppl was getting and after they got it working i did a hard reset and BAM no problems was happening i was having before. so like the OP said would be best to do a hard reset once you get it since its gonna be bone stock anyway a no harm no foul type of thing. loving the phone so far well worth the money and time

Re: Update: Hard-reset your Pro when you get it (conspiracy?)

I hate to say this but after having the phone over a week and a half I have decided to do a hard reset to see what if any changes it will make. I have had zero issues since day one, but I figure if i don't try a hard reset how will I know for sure. Here goes nothing. : sigh :

Re: Update: Hard-reset your Pro when you get it (conspiracy?)

This is how a sprint rep told me to hard reset my touch pro.

1. Pull the battery out of the phone.
2. Slide out the keyboard.
3. While the keyboard is still out hold down the volume down
button and the center enter key.
4. As you are holding the keys down and making sure the
keyboard is still out put the battery back in.
5. Once the battery is in and the volume and enter keys are
still being held down push the top power button.
6. This will prompt for a hard reset if done correctly.
7. All keys can be released at this point.
8. To perform a hard reset just push the volume up button.
