If the majority of fanboys here keep the phone, and make workarounds/etc, then Sprint/HTC gets away with this, and they will do it again.

I never owned a Mogul, but from what I can tell, that MAJORLY screwed up with the RAM. HTC also got away with putting crap screens in a majority of their Touchs, and most people either didn't know that a good screen existed, or they didn't care enough to get it swapped out. A mentality like that is exactly what HTC/Sprint wants. The lazy/uniformed/fanboy customer. They can dish out this crap all day long, and not have any negative effects.

Brilliant, HTC. Just brilliant.
These screens are not cheep to build.
There is probably different manufacturers for them, that's where the difference comes in.

Re-exchanging your phone for something like a heat problem will not solve the heat problem. It's pretty apparent in all phones. A few people report they don't have heat problems. If they are so well enthused about it, let me have it, I'll show you how to heat them up. You actually have to use the phone pretty hard.

Running on 1x network like I does causes more heat, I don't have EVDO available. I found this out from traveling. EVDO Connection uses less battery and creates less heat. If others have experienced different. We should discuss it.

There is only one problem with the mogul though, It doesn't have enough ram. The 6700 is the same way. And every phone before it.
And each firmware release they make for the phone sucks up more and more ram. My 6800 is about useless with the latest 6.1. I cannot wait to flash a rom from here or xda to make it run better.

It's not always the people designing the phones who make these decisions. I'm sure they would do things the way we do. Make a champ device for everyone! but boards and managers say they have to put the garbage on there, or make it look more "sleek" to catch certain peoples eyes.
I'd rather have an ugly tablet phone with lots of functionality. Function over form for me. and the Mogul has that. The TP is more of a pretty phone with a lot of functionality.
People get down on companies like HTC, who is building lots of phones, for things like poor buttons and such.
Yea, the buttons are not the greatest. But does anyone here actually know how hard it is to set things up to make parts in a CNC machine? Or do injection molding? Build a circuit board with a robot?
The only thing that companies can fix is having a User, or somebody who doesn't have an engineering degree come to help design and test these things. Somebody who is critical and doesn't have a corporate eye.
Untill that happens. We will have issues like overheating, or poor screens in some of the products. The quality controll isn't in the mind of the corporate movement. Look at our cars now days. =)

If you have a bad screen in your phone, return the sucker!
if its over heating. Then your doing something right. =)

Not trying to bash ya scrap. =)
Just got me worked up. I like most of your posts, so its all good.
But you are correct. We shouldn't have to deal with this stuff. But then, we shoudlnt' have to deal with a crappy economy, blah blah. I'm just saying things are hard and its the way of life.

The issue is not overheating as much as the fact that the phone shuts off even when it is connected to the battery and refuses to charge (my phone hardly gets hot, warm at best but the battery refuses to charge since it's built in mechanism makes it shut off for some apparent reason). That's what this thread is all about, and that's something that HTC should have QC-ed before they put this in the open market.

Re: Update: TP heats up, then battery drains, even while on charger.

There is a setting to have the phone not charge while connected to the PC Via USB, you are plugging into the wall, correct?

My phone goes into standby, but doesn't shut off. Just went into stand by as a matterafact, while charging.

And, wasn't before, but is now shutting off my internet sharing connection while going into standby... wtf.
Must be something I changed last night. With a fresh flash of JD's rom it wasn't doing that. Advanced config, you re the devil! haha. So many great options though. Doh!

Forgot where i was going and clicked send.
The charge shouldn't shut off unless it is getting hot, mine is quite warm right now, but still keeping it at 100% charge.
I'm not heavily using data right now either.

I have a program called powerguard I used to watch the heat on my mogul. 1.2for me. Might be newer version out. Search for that and check the heat levels on your phone. It should work for TP too I would think.
I think the numbers were backwards on my phone, or atleast the graph was, when it got hot the graph showed it was cooler. haha.

Re: Update: TP heats up, then battery drains, even while on charger.

Yes I'm plugging into the wall, I also checked off that option where the phone wont charge if it's plugged into the USB so that shouldn't be the culprit. I read in the users manual that the battery is designed to shut off from charging automatically if it gets too hot. The problem is that someone set the threshold way too low and so the phone can't charge fast enough while it's plugged in to the charger and dies.

Yea. You got me while editing my post again, So read up there about powerguard.
It gives you a numerical display though, so don't be deterred by my graph comments.

I just figured out my standby issue. I stupidly set a setting in Advanced config that JD set to infinity, and i set it back to 60 seconds. So when the phone goes into standby, it runs ICS for 60 seconds, then it doesn't run any longer. haha. Idiot me.

Most effective battery savings registry tweak (with a catch)

Until HTC releases a firmware update that has a more efficient radio ROM, I found a better solution for improving battery life. It's a annoying to have to use it, but oh well.

For those that live on the fringes of EVDO reception or have poor / intermittent EVDO reception otherwise, it's best to disable EVDO altogether and go with 1xRTT only.

Here is the Registry edit for enabling Hidden Phone Settings "Mode of Operation" option to pick 1X mode only.

HKLM\SOFTWARE\OEM\PhoneSetting

Change the option HiddenModeOperationPage from 1 to 0

Then go to Phone/menu/option/service/and check in the list, "Mode of Operation" should be at the bottom. You have 3 choices, Hybrid, EVDO, and 1X.
Once you have checked the box and hit ok, you will need to soft reset, and then the phone should switch to 1x only. (Not sure if a soft reset is necessary, but it does survive a soft reset).

It's a bit of a hassle, but at least it's a Settings Menu option you can toggle back and forth between.

Until Sprint puts EVDO back on the tower nearest to me or puts out an Airave that supports EVDO, this 1X only setting is the best solution right now.

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

Less then a day. With moderate internet and 10-15 texts, phone is down to 3 bars by 10 AM. Have to keep a charger at work, in the car, and at home. I tried installing the battery hacks from here and I didn't say any noticeable difference.

If you install gpstoday again, make sure it isn't in your start up folder. There was a shortcut to the app in mine (I deleted it). Other people have said they don't have the shortcut in their start up folder. Not sure why it is in some people's and not others?? Maybe if it was in yours, it was eating up some battery running in the background?

Re: Touch Pro Battery life!!! Post your reviews!!

it was in my startup, thats where its supposed to be. but after phone started up, i would use drop down and kill it. even with gps turned off it seemed lke the app was killing battery. all i know is, the app is gone and my battery is better.
