Re: Why Verizon Crippled the Touch Pro

I hate speculation... I wish Verizon would just let the cat out of the bag or all of us who are dieing to get the touch pro are going to jump ship and go to ATT or Sprint.

So far it looks like vzw is going to cripple their device with RAM, CPU, and gps lockdown... also NO IDEA when it's going to get released... not looking too good for people who want to upgrade and I'm honestly considering paying cancellation fee to hop on sprint of vzw version is gonna be half as good I might as well, right?

Most of the specs for verizon aren't speculation. the fcc has already approved that device for most of the specs people have seen. So basically if they're going to change the specs they are going to have to get another fcc approval, who knows when this phone will come out then.

Yes you are correct, and that is also in discussion, verizon did not cripple the device we have for the test model, it uses a 7501a chipset But verizon still states that the device planned will have the 7500 chipset. But when I discuessed this with verizon on a conference call eariler the past week and due to the high consumer base and popularity of the phone they take the time with FCC approvel and may not cripple the device, But this is only in discussion and not be approved for planing or design. But I will check later this week to see.

interesting info... I'm more concerned with the RAM difference because that might make the difference of it's going to viably be upgradable to wm7 when it ever comes out...

I just can't believe they would crippled HARDWARE... and this drastically.. I mean WOW... we all know they crippled software/os but hardware now too?! If that's the case I'm def paying the fee to cancel vzw I'm sick of their crap.

Re: Why Verizon Crippled the Touch Pro

Verizon is really sucking it lately. Crippled, TP, no Android, no newer respectable smartphones.

Their arrogance with this elitist business model of theirs is going to hurt them, soon. As soon as people figure out that this "best network" nonsense is exactly that, they're going to be in a world of hurt. They need an Android or something, now. Blackberry dominance isn't going to last forever, as it seems that they've lost the impetus to innovate out of their form factor.
