Why Verizon Crippled the Touch Pro
1 Attachment(s)
Sorry in advance if this has already been discussed.
So we've all probably seen the Sprint VS Verizon comparison chart by now, but I think I know why Verizon wants to cripple the Touch Pro (other than the fact that they are inherently evil.) Every time Sprint released an update for the Mogul, we here would rip it on to a rom for the XV6800. This emasculates Verizon and makes them unnecessary. This time around I think they intend to re-use Touch technology or use different hardware from the Sprint version so that we can't/it makes it harder for us Sprint people to help help out our brothers under Verizon opression. Viva la` Resistance!!!! BTW, yes I know I'm weird |
Re: Why Verizon Crippled the Touch Pro
Verizon has lost all my respect. as soon as my contract ends (jan 10 2009) im switching carriers. NO Android phone, no iphone and yeah i know they getting the blackberry storm but i dont care. I wonder if i could bring a sprint diamond and put it on the verizon network.

Re: Why Verizon Crippled the Touch Pro
Didn't verizon announce a few months back that they'd activate other carrier's ESN's? I thought I read that here 5-6 months ago...
As for Verizon crippling the touch pro in order to avoid you guys benefitting from the work from this community, that doesn't make much sense for me. If you can take a sprint rom update, and mod it to make your verizon phone better, that saves verizon on R&D costs.. It seems like they'd be more than happy to defer those costs to sprint, then wait a couple weeks till someone like DCD "fixes" the sprint Rom for Verizon, then take that rom for their own testing/R&D work to bypass a lot of the work of fixing errors themselves. Verizon still hasn't even announced this phone, to my knowledge, and I'm VERY skeptical that they'd release a phone so flagrantly inferior to the one offered by their direct competition... especially since they're the "same" phone, and Verizon can't argue that they're aimed at different market segments.. |
