Dunno bout him, but I switched from VZW to Sprint A year ago and I saw between equal and improved coverage. I live north of Philly, PA, and I travel all over Jersey, Eastern PA, Maryland. The only time I've ever had bad signal/roamed for more than 30 seconds was the VA mountains(low signal at a few points) and South GA (roaming once I hit the boondocks)

But, VZW is expected to get the diamond before the Touch Pro, and their version of the diamond is better IMHO than the one on Sprint. It won't have the built in 4gb of memory, but it will include a MicroSDHC card slot.
...and also a slower processor and half the RAM?

I'm located in Detroit Lakes, MN. I work in the Fargo area and travel from Fargo to Minot, Mandan (all ND) and Fargo to Willmar, Minneapolis, and Duluth/Superior WI.

The only downside to Sprint in my area is that right after I switched, VZW updated all of their towers to EV-DO. Sprint is only EV-DO in town, where as VZW is now EV-DO all along I-29 and I-94.

Sprint's coverage isn't near as good as VZW, but with unlimited Roaming I haven't had any problems.

Re: Why Verizon Crippled the Touch Pro

Well I plan to purchase the Sprint Version of the Touch Pro at full retail when it comes out and put it on the VZW network.

I have tried both Sprint and Verizon, and as the above poster said, VZW is definetly superior as far as network.

I travel all over the country for work and am often times in small towns with little reception, my VZW phone works almost 99% of the time.

Now just to wait for Sprint to release the Touch Pro.....

Re: Why Verizon Crippled the Touch Pro

nobody has actually confirmed that the verizon version will be crippled... there is only a sprint picture that says so and i highly doubt that verizon would release their specs to sprint. it may or may not be the same phone

Re: Why Verizon Crippled the Touch Pro

The Verizon HTC Raphel has the MSM7500A chipset but it does run at 528MHz.

Edit: And it does have the accelerometer.

You're acting as if Verizon will eliminate CDMA in the next year or two. Just my two cents.

Agree with both statements. I meant to look to the long term. Verizon LTE won't start for at least two years. However as Verizon phases out CDMA, I suspect there will be less incentive to develop CDMA versions of advanced phones for Sprint.

For now I intend to stay with Sprint and expect to upgrade a couple more times.

But it's on Verizon, and Verizon is a cripple
