FM radio tuner still included?

Psssh! Who needs a radio in their phone? Why, they have a radio in their car, in their kitchen, and probably in a desktop clock. Who listens to FM radio anymore anyway when you can just stream safe, non-confrontational, quality media directly to your medulla oblongata via the brain interface crystals left for us by the benevolent lizard people from the Andromeda galaxy.

Or is it that you take a basic feature which on the assembly line probably costs all of 12 cents and have it removed from the phone so that people can burn through their data plan trying to stream content that could ordinarily be had for FREE. It probably cost them more to have the FM receiver removed!

There is ZERO excuse for this sort of crippling. And if we as consumers don't speak out about it, corporations will continue to walk all over us as they drain our pockets of our hard-earned dollars.

The question was 'Is there an FM radio tuner included?'

I don't know why they'd take it out, if you get a Touch Pro, then you are on an everything plan, or at least a 15 dollar data plan. They don't "need" you to pay for Sprint Music(well maybe the itunes like store, but the included streaming radio) so why not keep it in. But even a ten cent radio adds up over time.

I don’t even know where to start but I know I may get roasted for this post, but don’t worry I have on my new flame suite. Now I don’t know about you guys but I have a mogul and I hate it for the most part, if I could go back in time I would have just kept my 6700, it never locked up as much as my mogul. Now don’t get me wrong my mogul has come in handy on so many different occasions but for a real power user memory management takes up way to much time, not to mention inconvenient and at times can be very embarrassing. Now of all the complaints I have heard about the mogul I don’t think the lack of an FM radio was a major one.

Now I am sitting here reading all these different posts about the lack of a radio. I mean come on, sure the gsm version has it plus the second camera but an unlocked one runs anywhere from $700 to $1000 where as sprint is charging us $579.99 and most of us will probably find a way to get some sort of reasonable discount off of that. What if the cdma version had the same hardware as the gsm and what if sprint charged the same price as the gsm version?

Look at what htc is giving us compared to what we have now and many people still complain about the lack of a radio? Sure, like someone said, maybe it cost more to take it out than to just leave it, hell sprint may have taken it out so we would use their services instead, or maybe we could just stream most radio stations from an online source. What difference does it make, that’s not its primary or even its secondary purpose and I bet that the lack of a damn radio would not be a reason why you end up not buying this wonderful piece of hardware. I am a glass half full kind of guy so I see things a little differently I guess. Sure, things can always be a lot better but damn it, it could always be a whole lot worse so be thankful for what we are actually getting.

Now if you want your voice to be heard about the lack of a radio or in some cases the lack of the second camera, we need to just not buy the touch pro when it comes out, that’s right boycott the touch pro to show sprint that they need to listen to their customers, but is that actually going to happen over a radio? Anyway, we are all expressing our opinions about how we feel; well this is how I feel so please take it easy on me.

You have a valid opinion and stated it without bashing or insulting anyone. I can see some disagreeing with the statement but does not call for flamers. I agree with you about hating the mogul though.

It would have been great if they included the FM tuner but that is not a deal breaker for me. I just want a phone that can function correctly out of the box not like the mogul with it's WORTHLESS dialer that is unresponsive to fingers or the fact that it nearly needs slide to unlock to work how it should.

I agree, the radio is far from a deal breaker, heck for me it would have been a total waste. But I really don't think that was the entire issure. As stated, it probably cost more to remove it than to keep it...so why not leave it? I understand removing the front camera as it would make a sizable cost difference. I can almost understand changing the back (just to be different from everyone else.) But the radio removal leaves me mystified. Yeah, there is Sprint radio which has stations a local radio can not receive so that really isn't competition. Maybe they simply didn't want another piece of hardware that could coincidentally fail when the next HTC phone upgrade arrives.

even if it has the hardware, what if the headphones dont have the built in antenna for it? will there still be a chance for reception.. well atleast outside

Streaming radio is fine if you are trying to listen to an actual FM radio station and they stream on the web, but the reason I want the FM receiver in the phone is to be able to use it while I'm at the gym where they have the TVs hooked up to FM transmitters to broadcast the audio from the television to anyone who's working out and has a radio.
