I'm very surprised by some who see no "need" for tilt functionality. Tilt is needed more than ever given all the things our phones can do now including Slingbox, Vid Calls, GPS, Slideshows, Typing for Texting, Word Processing and Emails, etc. It's not only cool and sexy but very functional.

Could you imagine a laptop manufacturer offering a laptop without the "tilt" feature and instead you have to slide out the keyboard because tilting hinges are too "complex" or would be "ridiculous" for laptops?

<---sarcasm on--->
I can't tell you how much I *love* propping up my HTC on a book or something so I don't have to hold it only to have it constantly slide down or off the table. Every time that happens though I think to myself: "This is a real pain but I am sure glad there wasn't any complexity added to my portable 528MHz, WM6.1, 288RAM, 2.8" VGA, Tri-Band, 7.2Mbps, 3.2 Megapixal Flash Camera, FM Radio, MicroSDHD, TV Out, Touch Screen, GPS device.
<---sarcasm off--->

IMHO having a physical keyboard gives the distinct advantage of being able to add a tilting feature as opposed to iPhone users who always have to hold their phones to see the screen.

Don't get me wrong, I like the progress they have made with this phone but why do some feature always need to be left off? Tilting is a simple mechanical hinge. Walkman cassette tape players have had them since the 70's and I've never heard stories about them always breaking. They could even make a hinge that could slide *or* tilt depending on your preference.

I'm not trying to give you guys a hard time but I think "Tilt" should be a standard feature.

Re: Raphael = HTC Touch Pro

I like it, especially the RAM. 3g iPhone competitor.

Tilt isnt bad if it didnt weigh as much as 2 Moguls, its the true meaning of the word brick.

Re: Raphael = HTC Touch Pro

Why is the screen off center wont that make it look funny in landscape. I guess im having a hard time seeing something i like more than my mogul but some of these minor changes kind of turn me off to it like whered all my hardware buttons go like IE, Messenging, Comm Mngr, etc. Still debating whether this will be worth breaking my pockets for a phone thats missing some stuff that my "crappy" mogul has. I do like wat looks like the pwer button at the top and of course all the extra features but these missing buttons may make me wait for the tytan 4 but whens that comin out, 2010, dont know if my mogul will hold up.

Re: Raphael = HTC Touch Pro

If you havent noticed, the trend these days is for LESS hardware buttons and more interactivity on the touchscreen. I wouldnt count on a phone coming out that out does or matches the Mogul in the sheer number of hardware buttons on it. Im getting this phone purely for the 4x as much RAM and hardware graphics acceleration.

Re: Raphael = HTC Touch Pro

So is the FM part a receiver or transmitter? I could care less if my phone picks up radio stations or RDS... it would be much cooler if it could transmit MP3's to a car stereo.

Yes, FM isn't the absolute best in terms of quality - but it's more convenient than cables and would be easier to setup and more reliable than bluetooth (if you car even has it).

Re: Raphael = HTC Touch Pro

looks as though the spec is a receiver, but i agree that a transmitter would be better

Re: Raphael = HTC Touch Pro

Ya, a transmitter would be kinda cool. I really hate the quality of those FM transmitters though.

The main advantage I can see with an FM receiver (besides listening to the radio) is that it should be possible to access TMC traffic transmissions. GPS/aGPS and TMC would make for a complete replacement of standalone navigation devices.

Re: Raphael = HTC Touch Pro

Just out of curiosity..

Is the Raphael the replacement or upgrade for the Mogul?
