Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)

I'm not sure anyone with a login and password for their cdma data has been successful. I think there's a bug somewhere in the RIL, but I have no idea how to go about tracking it down.

All cdma carriers I know of use #777 to dial data... the problem might be with requiring a username and password to log in (Sprint does not). But if it worked at some time in the past, I'd imagine that's not it.

Maybe play around with deleting and recreating your APN (instructions in post #2); but that's a shot in the dark. It shouldn't have any effect... but that doesn't mean it won't.
I wonder if the dhcp has to pass a host name like the old days on @home. if you're getting the 3g ico with attempted data traffic maybe the dhcp server on the isp side is not giving a ip (in a timely matter) if you could get a interface printout I could give you more info or a better theory. Since I can't get my hands on one of those devices in a native coverage area.

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)

At least with chrialex's US Cellular connection, it looked like it was assigning an ip address via dhcp, but it was failing to actually get any response from even, say, the dns servers it assigned. I'm not well-versed enough in networking to know where the failure point was.

Well if it gets a IP then its connected to the network. its going to be something else. like a missing route or it needs to connect to some internal server to get out. or login some how

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)

Sorry, been busy today with Bad Company 2 It gets an IP address, but it cannot connect to anything, pings/trace/etc don't work, doesn't receive any data, etc...what I am thinking is it is working kind of like a wireless AP at my school, it allows everyone to connect, but you can't actually use it unless you supply an email address (in this case a user/pass for their data network)

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)

Well, mine is a different number @uscc.net for my carrier, with that number as the password, but sometimes my regular number works as well instead of that one, so I have no idea. And whenever I talk to someone at US Cellular about it, they try to tell me that they cannot tell customers what their access settings are because it is proprietary. Even the MMS settings in WinMo they wouldn't tell me. They said I would have to go to a repair center and have the info entered manually, but they would not tell me.

OT: oh, and BC2 is a great game, got the 6 limited edition unlocks, the AKS-74U Assault Rifle unlock, and Vet status for the M1, though I wish I was able to continue from where I was in the beta, had a ton of awards and everything maxed out except for the ones that needed millions of points.

With updating to the newest build, for some reason I don't have Sprint data working. Everything else is fine though...

Weird. Someone on the other forum (Connect-UTB) complained about the same thing. Just to confirm/maintain my sanity, last night I set up a new data.img with the absolute newest kernel+modules, rootfs, initramfs, and the 2010-03-01 XDANDROID package. Data worked out of the box without needing a single tweak.

I don't know if something's changed and people need to trash their data.img (I can't see what might've), but... data's working.

Those are unavoidable problems at this point. Battery's a dog. Can be helped by: turning off data sync; turning off wifi; turning down backlight -- but even so, it won't be good.

There is no way to desensitize the screen. I can't tell if it's better or worse in its current state than it was a few weeks ago. It's now less likely to report double taps, I think, but more likely to jump around. Quite vexing.
