or try a different card. no amount of formatting worked for me on one card, but another card i put the files on once without formatting worked fine.

The Sprint version has a "Clear Storage" item in settings / system that supposedly wipes the card.

Yes but they usually suck.

Why not (while running WM) plug in the phone to your PC via USB. Select "Use as Disk Drive" or whatever that selection is (NOT activesync or internet sharing) and then you'll get just the SD card as a "drive" in My Computer. Just right click on the drive and format... easy.
