Re: Too many roms!

I consider myself still new to the world of PPC modding (ROMs, tweaks, hacks, what have you...)

Been following, reading and learning when I had my Mogul...and finally jumped in head first when I had my TP. (a bit of background)

I have to agree as a "new" user...it is confusing in the upgrade forums...I think I lucked out with the first ROM I tried...(Yay4Juggs clean ROM)...I had no major issues...and I was happy. However it got a bit crazy after that...from the several kitchens to be had...there were LOTS of ROMs to choose from. BUT, they all pretty much have the same lineage (kitchen.)

Maybe if IN THE TITLE, it is expected of the "chef" to put the kitchen that he/she used to cook the ROM...that might clear up some clutter...especically those that claim their ROM's is the fastest, most stablest of 'em all. Its not hard to throw a ROM together in a kitchen...and its not hard to "customize" your ROM...with a bunch of snazzy GUI. To be truly special like the OG Chefs (no2chem to name one) that is definitely in a different stratosphere.

If the community would move back into a direction where we can learn from each other and grow the user base...we may well avoid the hysteria that surrounded the release of the HSPL that "GRIPPED" the community a couple of weeks ago.

I have great respect for all the established chefs in these forums...and I wish all the aspiring chefs luck...and glad that I can still depend on this community for the tech support that Sprint can't AND won't give me.

that's my point...some folks use kitchens created by others here and put their own "spin" on things...and build a ROM calling it their own. Most say thanks to those folks...and can be seen on their page one.

I wasn't naming anyone in particular...only a trend that I saw. Hope you didn't take my post as a flame job. Cuz thanks to you I have mms working on my TP2

YEAH... and there are way too many differen phones too...
and cars... What about cars man... Every car on the road is different. And don't get me started with the cereal isle at the market. How many ways can you shape cereal anyway.
Variety and diversity is very bad and it confuses the heck out of me.

Re: Too many roms!

I totally agree with the opening post. I love how so many "reviewers" have been running a ROM for like 4 hours can declare it victory.

Pooling some of the effort is a great idea.

Re: Too many roms!

the funny thing about technologies thread, he had like 2 or 3 people who supported him and he claimed that because of his experience in using the rom and those 2 or 3, that the rom itself was flawless from imperfections. so glad he got himself banned.

Re: Too many roms!

After trying MightyROM, JUICY, and both EnerygyROMs I went back to the OG.

It's like being a kid in a candy store and eating everything and then leaving with an upset stomach and a headache.
I couldn't handle not having my text and exchange email account stop working properly.
A zip for this, remove this and replace this, what some people deemed as looking bad for reading text messages, I thought looked good.

I applaud their effort, but in the end we have a great phone with a descent platform that works.

Cheers,

Bill
