Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?

Well, just waited 2 days for my replacement TP2 (due to the oil slick problem)

The service repair tech said the problem was from moisture on your face. Gave me a card for "Invisible Shield". Who knows. Everyone says something different.

But .... I bring my phone back - and guess what? MY NEW PHONE's KEYBOARD BACKLIGHT DOESNT EVEN WORK RIGHT!

I am so pissed.

The right side of my keyboard barely lights up.

Gonna go back and get ANOTHER replacement =/ so annoying.

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?

Mine just did this, and I noticed it happened after a really long phone call, so it's probably the overheating issue.
Hopefully Sprint doesn't act shitty here.

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?

i saw this on my phone today after playing pandora while i was in the shower. after searching the screen all night i can't see it, at first i thought it was some solder flux i had on my finger. either way it sounds like moisture to me.

i wonder if tossing it in a thing of rice overnight would help???

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?

My Verizon TP2 has it, but I've had it for three months now so I doubt they'd swap it for me.

Re: Does your screen show Rainbow Banding?

ALL

I did a bunch of research as this happened to my LG Voyager and my Touch Pro. It is called a NEWTON RING and is VERY BAD! It happens to resisitve touch screens when the screen and/or the touch sensor warp and causes the light to refract between the two screens. The warping can be caused by excessive pressure, overheating, etc.

This is not going to be specific to a certain carrier, screen protector, etc. It is completely dependent on it's individual handling. It is most probably caused on the TP2 due to overheating from the battery while charging or during heavy use.

If you see this you will have to exchange your device eventually as the screen will begin messing up and finally stop working.

Hope this helps.

(This Touch Pro 2 is about 1 month old)

The LCD's are mass produced. Due to imperfections in the manufacturing process the liquid can seep, usually due to heat exposure. If you were to take it apart u would find an oily film between the lcd panel and the touch panel. As was the case with my TP1 which I replaced the screen myself!!! ($30.00 USD on e-bay (screen with touchpanel))

My TP2 is perfect, and I have had it cooking hot while dual teathering(wifi/usb at the same time), downloading large files. Also have dropped it on the pavement getting out of the car a couple times and inside on a couple hard floors as the result of fumbling. (I know right...?)

It reduces heat to have the keyboard open if ur puting a load on the phone.

That is quite strange, I've had my tp2 since the beginning of October and have carried it in the pocket of my jeans since the day I received it with the stock screen protector on and I haven't noticed that at all. I'm in college and I've treated my phone like a baby though not even bringing it with me when I work at my oddball jobs on the weekends where it'll get banged around in my pocket or whatever so it still looks brand new besides a fingernail scratch or two on the screen protector. I also live in Minnesota and the high temperature yesterday was 2 degrees above zero (Fahrenheit) so it's been in pocket while I've been outside shoveling snow and stuff in cold temps and nothing has shown up so I don't what to tell you....

If I had to guess at the cause it would almost seem to me like some kind of moisture got trapped underneath the screen protector that absorbed into (or behind) the screen somehow.... Along the lines of heat which I've seen, the moisture could have showed up by sitting in a steamy bathroom or something of the sorts but that's all I've got.
