Which post? There are sys.txt files with every theme you download. I am using the theme in your 2nd post and the sys.txt file associated with it.

I started over and went through the instructions again from scratch with the same outcome.

Any other ideas?

Re: How to get iGo8 run on TP2 with TTS enable and 2009 NA Maps (step by step guide)

Hi guys. I am new to this forum found it because I posted a user review of this phone on cnet and was instructed to head here for more info on the phone and well this place is really overwhelming and really informed. Thanks a lot for the instructions on how to install this app cause well I wouldn't have gotten this far without you. I am however, having some difficulties getting TTS working on the phone. It did work once with my current setup but after closing the app and reopening its failed to use any TTS. I followed your instructions from your first post and choose the skin from the second post with the 2nd post's sys.txt file. I then added some options from post #45 regarding the cams and the tts settings that weren't in the 2nd post. I just find it weird that it worked at one point and then stopped. I looked thru the rest of this thread for any other info and tried other suggestions without avail; ie stripping down the files to the basic root files and then adding TTS. I have included my sys.txt file in an attachment hoping that someone who knows something about this could take a look at it and possibly lead me in the right direction (no pun intended, ok maybe just a lil one

Best Regards and TIA

PS. On a side note. I use Resco Explorer and was wondering if there was a way to show .dll files as I only see IGO8, sys.txt, tahoma, and tahomabd in my main directory while browsing thru it on my phone but see all the .dll's .ttf's while browsing thru Windows 7.

Please do not use this attachment on your phone as it may not work!!! It is just for my troubleshooting purposes!!!

You should download the Nav N Go iGO v8.3.4.102680 first. The TTS package on my 1st post runs on this version and later only. Then, delete everything, just use all materials in my first post, don't change anything until you get it working, then consider post 2 for skin, but don't change the sys.txt file.

Menu > Options > Genergal > Browser --- and uncheck unnecessary fields.

Also, try this in your sys.txt:

[tts]
always_say_road_names=1
announce_exit_directions=1
announce_street_name=1
gps_disconnected=0
gps_signal_lost=0
Recalc_voice=0

[debug]
disable_outlookpoi=0
show_oneway=1
show_oneway_3d=1
show_lane_info=1
show_speed_limit=0
skip_eula=1
enable_roadshadow=1

Its what Im currently using in my config and TTS works fine...although I did have to restart my device once in order to clear up enough memory for the TTS to function. Goodluck!

Re: How to get iGo8 run on TP2 with TTS enable and 2009 NA Maps (step by step guide)

Thanks for the reply. Yup that is the version I have installed. I followed all of the directions from your first post, got it working fine tts and all. And then added the 2nd post's gui and sys.txt and added the TTS/cam stuff from post 45. I was thinking about reverting all the way back to the first post and 2nd post and probablly leaving out the tts stuff from post 45. I'll definately try it your way though, but what do you mean by not changing the sys.txt file? Do I keep the one that came with the app or use the one from your first post and not the one from the 2nd post?

Thanks again.

Thanks! I'll try this on my way home before I go ahead with the reinstall.

Re: How to get iGo8 run on TP2 with TTS enable and 2009 NA Maps (step by step guide)

OK. I just retested the TTS fucntion on my device. Its not working right now for me either. It seems very sporadic and largely dependent upon how much free RAM is available...sometimes working properly, and other times not working at all. IMO, its barely worth the effort. The default voice guidance system is just as good. But just for the sake of "success", would someone with a functional TTS sys.txt post their's so we can compare notes and such? TIA.

Re: How to get iGo8 run on TP2 with TTS enable and 2009 NA Maps (step by step guide)

I recommend restarting your device before testing the TTS function in iGo...at least for debugging purposes. If TTS works sometimes and not others using the same sys.txt, then its plausible to conclude that the problem is RAM related...since that is the one ting, which I can think of right now, that fluctuates on a WM device.
