Re: How To Find Sprint MSL
Quote:
(Master Subsidy Lock) A numeric code (password) that prevents a user from accessing certain technical settings of a phone. It is specifically designed to prevent a phone from being reprogrammed to work with a different carrier (service provider). This is what is usually meant when a phone is referred to as "locked". There are also "unlocked" phones that can be reprogrammed to work with a different carrier. The reason for this system is the way phones are often sold. Many phones are sold below cost, (at a loss to the carrier,) with the expectation that the money will be recouped in the cost of the monthly service plan. The up-front loss that is later recouped is called a Subsidy. For this to work financially for the carrier, the user must not buy the phone and then use it with a different carrier. The MSL makes that nearly impossible. Unlocked phones are ususally much more expensive than locked phones, because there is no subsidy to offset the cost. |

Re: How To Find Sprint MSL
I would have to say there is no way it cost sprint 700 to have the phone made and I believe it should be unlocked.

Re: How To Find Sprint MSL
Sorry to rehash an old post, but no, even if you did pay the full retail price for a "sprint" phone, it is still locked to "sprint", only if you bought an generic un-branded version would it come unlocked, which in CDMA (Sprint, Verizon) that doesn't exist. Also having your MSL still doesn't "unlock" your phone, it just gives you access to certain settings, you still can not transfer that phone for use with another carrier. The exception being re-flashing for Cricket or using Houdini for MetroPCS.

Re: How To Find Sprint MSL
Maybe you don't have an online account at Sprint ?
If you do, simply navigate to your phone number and go to activate a new phone. If you put in the ESN of any sprint phone you get the MSL as well as MSID, etc, etc. Just my opinion, I could be wrong Quote:
