Re: How To Find Sprint MSL

do you have to be on the sprint network in order to get the msl # when doing this method?

Not to sound like a jerk, but this method is posted in several locations on PPCGeeks. Do we really need another one? lol

I just did a quick search in the TP2 forum and the only other thread I found on this subject was not as well written as this how to, so I've closed that thread and linked it to this one. Perhaps I've overlooked something, but if you see another thread that you feel needs to be moderated then just let one of us moderators know...

you can click to report any thread/post or just PM any of the mods and we'll take care of it

Also keep in mind, that each device has its own forum and some users do not frequent multiple forums, so while this information may be posted in lets say the touchpro forum, if someone just bought a TP2 as their first PPC device, they are NOT gonna look in the touchpro forum for info on how to obtain their MSL.

Not trying to sound like a jerk, but you can PM these concerns to us as well. Thanks!

Re: How To Find Sprint MSL

Sorry guys still learning about this phone... when I goto file explorer what is considered the root file?

the Main Windows folder? Programs folder?

I can't seem to find this ATlog folder to get that info and I really need this MSL code so I can get my data to work for ATT.

Thanks.

**Can someone show me a tree on where to find this...i.e.: Device/Windows/****/XXXX

If you have a Sprint Touch Pro2 this is the only way to get your MSL other then to call sprint.
1. You need a Reg edit tool like PHM RegEdit or resco registy editor.
2. Go to HKLM\Software\HTC\ATDbgLog
3. Edit item called "Enable" and change from "0" to "1" (leave out quotes.) Save changes.
4. Exit PHM RegEdit or resco registy editor.
5. Shutdown/turnoff device.
6. Turn back on.
7. Once turned on leave running for 1 minute or longer (a log files is being created durring this time in the "\Atlog" folder.)
8. After 1 min go back into registry and set value back to "0". Make sure to save changes and exit PHM RegEdit or resco registy editor.
9. Shutdown device again and turn back on.
10. Varify that the Registry value is still set to "0", if not then repeat above steps and wait 1 min before shutting down the second time in step 9.
11. Now you should open Explorer and go to the folder "\Atlog" in the root directory of your device.
12. You shoould see a file called "ATDbg0" (the "0" may be another number like 1), if your using another file browser you may see the full file name include the "xtx" extention. This file is a text file and can be opened in Word mobile.
13. open the file and use the find feature to locate "RMSL", you should soon find a line item that includes a 6 digit number, this is your MSL code.

I tried it on mine and confirm it works without a problem. I used soft reset method holding down power and it worked fine. If you find this helpful feel free to thank me.
Well, I lost track of my MSL somehow, and this works great. Thanks

Re: How To Find Sprint MSL

MSL Grabber is so GARBAGE! I tried to use it with the mogul, TP and my TP2 but no dice! I used the sprint echat method, works like a charm and you can get it in about 5 minutes apposed to not getting it at all from MSL Grabber!

I also tried this method on the Mogul and the TP but still no dice! Every time I looked at the text file nothing with 6 digits was on it!

I guess this method was configured solely for the tp2, I heard there is some sort of msl grabber for the original tp over at mobile files.com

I completed all the steps and looked for "RMSL" and it says not found??
What could I do?
