Are you having trouble staying in 3G (getting stuck in 1X), VZW TP2 folks?

I asked my brother to check the Imagio on display in his VZW store (Princeton, NJ), and sure enough it's sitting in 1x... surrounded by phones in EVDO/3G.

I noticed that same thing with an Ozone in the Seattle store.

The radio version #'s are definitely different on the Imagio vs. the TP2. It sounds like we are screwed until someone at Verizon notices the same behavior as we do and sees this as a real issue that needs to be addressed.

Or HSPL unlocker and we flash radios until we find a solution.

I talked with level 2 support, they act like they have no idea we are having this issue with the newer HTC phones. It occured again to me so I called. He had me switch from the GMA mode to CDMA only... so far so good but thats very early in the game. If this doesnt get fixed im heading to a crack berry...BTW: my device is the imagio.
What you all think of the tour, what would I be losing except Wi-fi.

Damn, and I was thinking of switching to the Imagio and hoping it would solve this...
For me, it's to the point now where it occurs almost every time that I switch locations (take it out of airplane mode after landing). One of the various magic incantations works (multiple resets, *228, or EPST fake-no-change-edit), then I'm good until I fly again. Just try and explain THAT to support... Fortunately, it's a once-a-week thing now and not nearly daily.

Unfortunately, this didn't make it any easier for me to make up my mind to switch to an Imagio within my 30-day window which is rapidly expiring...

Kept having the 1X issue myself and after doing several hard resets, I had Vzw ship me an Imagio. It will be here tomorrow. Hope it does better than my TP2. Sad thing is, I hard reset again yesterday and my TP2 is suddenly running like a champ in 3G. Just tested at 4717 Kbps.

Maybe I should keep the TP2 after all?

It's been a few weeks for my replacement TP2, and I have had no issues with dropping out of 3G for over 10 days now. For the record, when I received my replacement phone, the first thing I did was change it to CDMA only, since I will not be using the SIM card any time soon.

Although we cannot rule out the radio stack as the cause until HardSPL releases, I believe that it is a hardware issue that was/is affecting early production phones. The issues seems spread out because we are all over the country, and receive our phones from different warehouses; each with devices of varying age.

I've had my phone in CDMA-only mode since I got it and I still have the issue. It went away for a week and I thought I was good to go. Then I see that stupid 1X icon one day...

Oh well... keep on waiting.

I have mine on CDMA only and experience this problem as well. It was always a problem in Newport, RI and at Disney World. Not as frequent in NJ.
