Are you having trouble staying in 3G (getting stuck in 1X), VZW TP2 folks?

Anyone ever done a speed test to check the connection speeds between 3G and 1x?

I guess Verizon has a feature call CPOP that allows calls to come in during an active 1x data session. I don't think Sprint ever offered this when I was with them, so I was confused by that.

follow up : I placed a serv call with VZ. They were able to see that I'm indeed stuck at 1x over 70% of the time which causes slow web / data connection. They could tell by using some sort of tool. They are going to escalate it and call me on another number but not until next week. I will be out of town so it should be interesting to see what happens.

I noticed whenever a call comes in mine switches to 1X and if I send or receive a text it switches to 1X. Is it supposed to do this?

Yeah that's totally normal

Do a google on 1x looks like blackberrys have the same issue and they are on a different data plan... There is a big diff between 1x and 3G speed per VZ tech support.

Oh yeah, many times.

I get about 150kbps in 1X and 3mbps in 3G, so it's not an 'icon' issue, it truly is in 1X.

Wow, i can't say i've been stuck 70% of the time but i'm glad they were able to at least figure out that you really are stuck.

Yeah keep us posted and if you can, maybe ask what tool or check the tech did to determine that you were at 70% 1X. That's crazy.

I have a Sprint TP2, I couldn't find another thread for Sprint users. But, I am having this issue on this unit. Exchanged the first two TP2s for other issues, but the first two didn't have this issue. The third one does. It has the other normal issues, dead pixels, bad ear piece sound, but I know those are the norm.

But, if I travel around town, it gets stuck in 1x mode and the only way to get out of it is to hold down the end key. If I go into communications tab and turn off data and back on that doesn't fix it.

So, not sure if I should contact Sprint for an exchange or if I should wait to see if there is some sort of fix. I doubt they are going to be happy about another exchange...
