lol in all honestly I dont harp on the downfalls of windows mobile or the downfalls of Iphone cause they both have grown to where honestly if I went back to just 1999 our phones would make people cry out of pure joy.

Its all about delivery. Period.
People are going to go for what is more productive or they are going to go for what feels better/easier and try to find a middle ground. A best of both worlds if you will. some will lean one way while others will lean to the other. There has yet been a phone that has yet to truly capture the best of both because there will never be one. people are the problem as people will always lean based on there lifestyle.

We used to be able to gripe about features but half of us forgot how things used to be in the smartphone world apprently. I praise Windows Mobile and Palm for there great ideas for fuctionality for PDA/Smartphone Devices. I praise Apple Iphone for showing the world that they CAN enjoy a smartphone and push competition further. I praise Blackberry for there Steller Email delivery system and all around work oriented products and I praise them for adventuring (same with WM) into the world to where its NOT just for business.

I have owned nearly all phone OS types (except webOS though I tried and liked it. with the Pre im waiting for Verizon on that one(side note EVERY AREA IS DIFFERENT WHEN IT COMES TO COVERAGE SO NO NEED TO DEBATE ABOUT SOMETHING THAT IS GEOGRAPHICAL)) Android, Windows Mobile, Original Palm, Blackberry and I wont even go into the version numbers. Its all about Delivery like I said. All have there ups and downs.

Right now wife has a BB that I LOVE to help her with, I have a WM THAT I LOVE, I HAD an Iphone that I LOVED, I HAD an android phone that I loved but needs to mature.

But look at any spec sheet when it comes to features for ALLLLLLLL of these devices. You will see SO many similarities that its FUNNY AND NOT FUNNY at the same time. and yet we QQ over the 2 or 3 features that each phone doesn't have. No point. If you don't like something thats fine but don't bash someone for it and visa versa. People just want to make there phone look cool by bashing others and honestly its sickening to me. I only compete with my phone when someone is bashing me. Other than that I don't flaunt my phone since IM the only one thats going to be using it for the most part anyways.

All im saying is people shouldnt knock others stuff all the time just because they:
a. havent tried it
b. didnt give it a chance when they did
c. feel bad about there purchase
d. like one style over another (PEOPLE HAVE DIFFERENT STYLES...it happens!)
e. dont like another carrier (geographic, finacial, or treatment again will be different!)
f. dont have anything better to do.

</Rant>
Here I go again....
Ok time for Rant2

<Rant2>
People are so disrespectful...look at all of you bashing the Iphone when it was the Iphone that pushed competition in the first place to get your Touch Pro 2 and others to where it is...do you think HTC and others would really have payed more money to upgrade there phones if Iphone hadnt pushed competion in the first place?

Some of the bashing done on this thread is just so ignorant I have to call it out ..people really surpised me on this thread with some of these comments that were made.

Lets start with physical look...take your touch pro 2 and hold it on top of an iphone 3gs...hmmm...dominating screens dont you think they looks alittle...IDK...similar?

Lets go to features..

Tethering | (Jailbreak)
MMS (v1.0 on iphone is still vaporware) | (old complaint now fixed)
Hardware keyboard | (Diamond? Diamond2? Leo? Omnia? Omnia2?)
Not limited to just using vendor-approved apps | (JailBreak)
MUCH faster web browsing (Opera Mini)| Java Applet (browsers..come now)
In-browser flash support (Sky Fire) | (limited flash support..oooooo)
Swapable/replaceable/upgradable battery | (ill give you that one..)
removable/replaceable/upgradable microSD storage | (Diamond?)
Microsoft Office Mobile | (An app...oooo like Iphone compass app...some people need it some people dont)
iPhone is only available on AT&T (high priced plans, and a crappy network) | (Besides the fact that AT&T looses its exclusivity in a few months Carrier discussion)
SERO plan ($30 per month for 500 mins, free nights/weekends at 7PM, and unlimited txt/data FTW) | (Again carrier Discussion... I currently have a high verizon bill..)

now onto some of the just ignorant comments..

cause I need a business phone, not a kids toy. I can play games on my PSP or DS. | (Just cause its capable of gaming people seem to think its just for games?...get real...people that dont want games on there iphone dont buy then and its the same for WM...)

She's a woman. She wouldn't understand | (Despite the fact that this is a straight up sexist remark ..arent there women on this forum that uses WM? I know 8 at my job that us WM ...are the guys or Tomboys cause they do?...)

because if you wanted something shiny and made of glass you would of bought a mirror | (I noticed my TP2 with its resistive screen has more shine than my older WM devices...dont you think the leo will have a shiny screen....?)

oh and one that I dont even have to use about ease of uses... my son can operate touchflo 3d and hes 1 and a half....just cause a phone is easy to use doesnt make it bad..infact its why we buy our upgrades in the first place...so it will be easier on our lives to use this phone...

Its like a laptop vs. gameboy. | (Never saw a gameboy inspire a laptop through competitions...your example doesnt even apply)

Again people dont look at the how similar phones are now compared to how things were back in 2002..infact if any of us brought our phones back in time to 1999 people would cry out of sheer joy... and yet we gripe about like 2 or 3 features that arent on a phone and say it sucks...people have different taste and will buy what they want to buy...you dont have to bash other people to explain why you paid 350 dollars on your phone...

I know ill be flammed like crazy for this but it needs to be said...people are so ignorant and disrespectful that its just silly..that same person your calling dumb for buying an Iphone may be the same guy that you need as your lawyer in your case or your doctor who saves your life...why bash a phone..a gadget......I have talked with plenty of people over the phone calling in cause there WM phone doesnt work correctly...doctors...lawyers..so called engineers...computer technicians...why are they calling me? cause they need my help to fix there problem which 9 times out of 10 they could have fixed themselfes.
WM users can be JUST AS DUMB as any Iphone user and I speak with experience on that one.

its time for everyone to grow up/Grow a pair and instead of bashing other peoples purchases to justify your purchase to just let it go ..work on your phone since your the only one mainly using it anyways..help others instead of spouting about stupid remarks...
</Rant2>

Now let the flaming begin...

edit***
to answer the quesiton. Because I prefer my touch pro 2...
thats all that needed to be said.

Re: Friend asked why I didn't buy an iPhone...

The iphone is a good product, it does quite a bit, BUT.....

There is always a "but".

It's not so much the phone itself, as it is apple, the phone and it's operating system.

I've been using PDAs since the earliest Palm, I also had a crap tons of macintosh computers in my house (macintosh is now called mac for those of you who don't know) .

I've also owned a few 1G and 2G iphones and several ipods (including a ipod touch), only because I got them cheap, warrantied them out jailbroke them and unlocked them, then sold them to some sucker apple fanboi/girl for a profit.

If you are looking for a phone that is flashy and has a touchscreen and you want to conform to apple's demands, an iPhone is for you.

Now if you want a phone that you can:

Double as a PDA

Charge anywhere there is a USB B cable and a USB port

Has removable storage (not because you need more, but because it makes things easier and more functional)

Full keyboard

Tilting screen

Removable battery (Oh what? Why is that important, oh I didn't know that owning multiple batteries was against my phone manufacturer policy about their customers!)

Has a stylus (Why not use your fingers 100%? Because "your fingers are too fat" *Insert picture of overweight Homer Simpson trying to dial a phone number*

It's not "forbidden" to explore and manpulate the phone's files system

The iPhone is designed in a way that a 5yr old could use it, I'm sorry, I'm not 5 nor even 12yrs old, I don't need to drag my finger across the screen ever single time to do the simplist of tasks.

I'm sorry apple, I know that you guys got all trendy and expect your customers to buy your computers at a higer price simply because you have commercials with two people representing computers and the IBM is always inferior in some asinine way.

Still waiting fo that picture you were gonna send my a few years ago, I think I JUST got it.

More of a friendly debate now but yeah lets go through this one.

Double as a PDA (at what point does the apple iphone not do enough to be considred a Personal Digital Assitant?)
"A personal digital assistant (PDA) is a handheld computer, also known as a palmtop computer. Newer PDAs commonly have color screens and audio capabilities, enabling them to be used as mobile phones (smartphones), web browsers, or portable media players. Many PDAs can access the Internet, intranets or extranets via Wi-Fi, or Wireless Wide Area Networks (WWANs). Many PDAs employ touchscreen technology." Quoted from Wikipedia...

Has removable storage (not because you need more, but because it makes things easier and more functional)

Full keyboard
(These 2 have already been talked about in the above post)

It's not "forbidden" to explore and manpulate the phone's files system
(Like XDA and PPCGEEKS didnt receive nastygrams from Microsoft...)

The iPhone is designed in a way that a 5yr old could use it, I'm sorry, I'm not 5 nor even 12yrs old, I don't need to drag my finger across the screen ever single time to do the simplist of tasks.
(again my son 1 and a half can use touchflo3d......just because it delivers things in a different way doesnt make it a bad phone.)

I've had computers since 1982, I had software on the market in the early days (for the Commodore 64), and gave up on the whole business, because of planned obsolescense, and the fact that you had to keep learning exponentially, rather than than incrementally, all of your career.

Anyone that was there when the first Windows was released knows that, compared to DOS, it dragged that same fast DOS computer down horribly, and forced the endless hardware upgrading. I could, and should, write a book.

It wasn't the marketing that cost Apple, Jobs and Woz were heros everywhere, especially in schools. It was the open architechure of the PC. I also sold the first brand of PC clone, the Columbia.

Anyone remember that one?

Well I was just bringing that up to say that people need to stop bashing Apple and its product and be thankful for its contributions to the world. But thanks for that knowledge I thanks your post just cause you dropped some good information and brought up some old memories (though its alittle off topic (as well as I was)).

i have the TP2 ... love it. here's what starting too bother me. go search for a baseball scoresheet or pitch count program for windows mobile ... none exist. but in your search, you'll find 3 or 4 for the iphone that are gorgeous! (i.e. scorepad, iscore, etc...) used to be the other way around which made me buy win mo devices. still love my pro 2, but worried about where developers are spending their energy.

Re: Friend asked why I didn't buy an iPhone...

I agree with notch8... it does seem like WinMo developers are spending more time writing programs/utilities to fix the appearance and performance of the devices than they do to increase functionality and usefulness of the devices right now. Look at the forums here and you'll see thread after thread of people asking how to make TF3D or MS3 or whatever look more useful to them... and then posts on how to just make things work. THAT is an absolute shame.

I hear you, ran across things like that a few times myself. Hopefully the Marketplace coming with 6.5 will start to address this issue. As long as MS courts hot devs and doesn't set the price bar to high it could be a great thing. It won't rival Apple's app store anytime soon, but it's a step in the right direction.

I just don't really care for the iphone or the Apple's ecosystem. It's a nice piece of hardware but it just isn't a good fit for me. It has the best sw keyboard ever, but I still prefer my slide-out keyboard. To me the people who post long drawn out post (here of all places) defending the iPhone are just as silly as the people who blindly hate it. One side will never convince the other. Flamewars are fun to read, but generally pretty stupid and pointless.
