The battery on my TP2 blows. So I called Verizon and they shipped me out a new battery, I should have it by thursday.

What are the chances that it's the phone and not the battery? I mean, how often is the phone the culprit and not the battery? It sounds to me like it would almost be exclusively a battery issue. How could the phone be the issue?

Right now we're all just getting use to the TP2. It wouldn't surprise me though if a month of two from now we start finding out that HTC had some issue's with batches of batteries and thus there are some of us experiencing issues.

Re: htc tp2 battery is weak

I am coming from a Sprint Mogul which only lasted around six hours at most on a full charge if I left IM+ on. Which the TP2, I have had the battery last almost 24 hours with IM+ on.

I don't own a TP2 yet, but my Touch/Vogue has a battery under 3 months old. Today it was off of the charger at 7am, full charge. I sent and received 4 text messages, and read 2 emails. My battery was at 10% at 4pm. In my case, its the phone.

But how do you know it's the phone? I'm not calling you out bud, I'm actually wondering how do you know? I was told that I can go to a Verizon store and they can test the device to see if it's the phone or battery. Either the technical support woman was talking out her @ss or they really do have a method for testing, I don't know. I'm gonna look into it though.

I actually had the phone tested at a Sprint store. It's required by them before they will replace the battery for free. Here is the issue though. They said it would take ~45 mins, so my girl and I went to lunch. Came back 30 mins later, so I knew I had a bit of a wait time ahead of me. So we waited for another hour or so. I finally got fed up and asked a rep what the deal was. She came out with my phone a couple minutes later. I am thinking my phone got pushed to the side, and missed. I complained, and they just threw a battery in there to appease me. Before all this, I bought a battery from Radioshack, and had the same short life span issues. So, 3 batteries, and battery life under 12 hours, do the math.

Re: htc tp2 battery is weak

Actually, more than likely, you've got all the radios on, and you've left Push Internet services on... that or a bad battery, in which case turn them off when you're not using them and replace the battery.

My battery is lasting longer than my extended TP1 battery did, and I definitely spent about 2 hours on the phone today, plus about 15 texts, 15 hours of email syncing, and lots of just playing around with it... still sitting at 50%.

Re: htc tp2 battery is weak

goto settings, all settings, click on the battery that says "power". Slide over to one of the tabs on the right and it will tell you how long it's been since a full charge, how many minutes/hours spent in stand by, talk, something else. I would look on my phone, but I'm tethering on a road trip with my laptop.
