Thanks for this. I've been looking for something that could get Skype to route through the ear speaker.

Otherwise, the phone works normally when the program isn't running.
Thanks.

I was perusing a forum where AudioRoute was being discussed, and many were having problems keeping their phone's microphone active when they used AudioRoute, along with a variety of other glitches. Apparently it works well with TP2 according to those posting here.

I think someone there mentioned that the AudioRoute shortcut can be removed from the Windows Autostart list, to prevent it from running on startup if that isn't desired. That's the way I'd prefer it - run it when I need it, close it when I don't.

Thanks again.

Re: Skype

The only time I had trouble with the AudioRoute program was when I didn't use it consistently. For example, AudioRoute is running, but I'm making a regular phone call. I go to enable speakerphone on the dialer, then everything goes dead no mic, no sound, until I tell AudioRoute to go back to the earpiece.

The way around this is to always use AudioRoute if its running to switch to speakerphone.

Understood.

In my case, since I will rarely be using Skype, I think the easiest/best solution would be to just not run AudioRoute in general (remove from Autostart). When I need to use Skype, Start it, make my call, and then close it.

Seems the cleanest for my situation, and eliminates the need for memory and resource usage for a program that I don't need running 98% of the time. I assume that this is perfectly do-able?

Re: Skype

@DLCPhoto
I travel to Peru about 1-2 times per year and have used Skype to call the US (cell and landline) on my TP over Wi-Fi. The rates are great. I'll get the chance to try it on the TP2 next year.

Excellent.

Yeah, $2.95 for the month, for unlimited calling, is pretty much a no-brainer. I don't know how much access to WiFi I'll have though, so may need to use a local SIM as well.

Re: Skype

I always do a local SIM and one of those cheap international calling cards (5 Soles) when i don't have access to Wi-fi on the road. However i always tried to do all my calling at the hotel (Wi-Fi) before i went out for the day.

Re: Skype

Just to let people know how things went (Verizon Touch Pro 2):

Installed Skype after copying the CAB file to my storage card - went without a glitch. Fired it up, logged in, and worked fine, except for the sound coming out the speakerphone (as expected).

Installed AudioRoute (again via CAB file on storage card) - also went without a hitch. Switched it to Earpiece, fired up Skype, and it worked just as desired, routing the sound to the earpiece.

Out of curiosity, I left AudioRoute running, and made a regular phone call. The audio was not good, although cell reception in our home is poor. I closed AudioRoute, called again, and audio reception was fine.

I then moved the AudioRoute file in Windows...Startup... so it wouldn't automatically start with the phone. I can now turn AudioRoute on when I need it for Skype (or whatever other reason I might have), and then turn it off when I'm done with it.

I couldn't try Skype calling a regular phone (no Skype credit apparently, even though my account shows $1.00 present, from when I first registered). Guess I'll pony up the $2.95 to try that out!

Thanks to all for the help here.

Re: Skype

Just installed AudioRoute on my TP2 and it works great.. installed without any problem and works like a charm. From the website:
"The first icon routes the audio to the earpiece speaker.
The second blue icon, can be used to route the audio to the backspeaker.
The orange icon, routes the audio to the speakerphone, while in a phone call."
