In my opinion it was more of a because I can reason. Some people might have actual logical reasons behind doing this, but I really didn't. I figured, if Verizon will do it for free and I like free things, I should take them up on their offer.

Well im saying what would be the benefit of getting it unlocked... i mean why would you wanna use t-mobile or at&t if you already have a perfectly good working phone that will do both CDMA(in the us) and GSM (If your overseas) whats the point of using GSM over here in the us over CDMA?

They are going to have an HSPL unlocker and a SIM unlocker. 2 different unlockers.. HSPL unlocker will enable you to flash the Phone's ROM with custom ROMS.From posts previously referenced, this part will be free but will have to be done through a PC connection . It will be separate from the SIM unlocker.

The SIM unlocker will be 10.5 GBP ,(or previous donation I hear) . This unlocks the SIM so phone can be used on different carriers . ExAMPLE: The Sprint TP is actually already SIM unlocked. However, it is only unlocked for international use. This way, when you travel out of the US , you can use another SIM card (carrier) to make calls via GSM . Thus making it a World Phone. The SIM unlocker will , I believe, enable you to "unlock" the SIM so you can use different carriers in the US. This is the only reason you would need it on a Sprint TP2. I have heard that Verizon will actually unlock the SIM if you call in and request.Some people are saying that your account may have to meet certain requirements such as being in good standing. I am not sure of the other TP2's such as TMobile, but basically the SIM unlocker does just that, unlocks the SIM.

HSPL, unlocks the phone to be able to flash new ROMS to the phone so you do not have to use that "crappy" factory ROM that is on the phone out of the box

IMHO There is no reason. Personally, I am moving and was going to get a prepaid T-mobile SIM to give out on my resume's because I find it easier to get a job if you have a local number already, but then my 4 google voice requests came though, so now I can't think of any good reason.

i thougt all u have to do is call to get it unlocked if you are verizon
