I don't see it though, FYI.

Everyone needs to stop comparing Apple to HTC. I don't compare my Zune to my iPod. Apple has such an odd hold on the universe that it gets to do WHATEVER it wasnts and however it wants.

Apple says jump, the carriers say how high.

They have mucho pull.

It's the same reason why crap movies like Transformers stay #1 in the theater and make a sick amount of money when better, less "flashy" movies tend to do so-so, or poorly.

Apple has catered to the lowest common denominator. They've taken a solid, stable phone and made it available for any person that needs a phone. Their ADS alone say "At this price, anyone can have one!"

HTC can't and has not done that.

So the Touch Pro2 doesn't have accelleration. Fine. That point has been stated. Where else is this whole thing getting us, other than making you even MORE upset Exil3d?

3d is used for so much more then just gaming, pc's pretty much require seperate chips to render 3d even if youre not gaming it can make the whole operating system a lot better looking and performing.

Re: Pro 2 is Also missing 3d accelaration. Confirmed!

Seems reasonable to complain about PPC's as well as praise them on a PPC site.

The fact is that for 3+ years WM phones have never failed to take a step back when taking another step forward.

WM phones rush to be touchscreen centered like iPhone, dropping their advantage of hard controls (i.e. d-pad, trackpad, hard buttons, etc) along the way. Silly since WM phones don't have as good a touchscreen as the iPhone, so why drop the advantage you do have to limit yourself to your opponent's strength?

WM phones have not yet matched the speeds PPC's had in the PDA heyday. Are PDA's that much different from smartphones? No, just look at the iPod Touch, a PDA with the same performance as it's smartphone sibling. I'm not talking about games here, they're just a blatant example of this phenomenon.

It took this long just to get back to the screen sizes that Dell, Compaq, and Toshiba PDA's had 4 years ago. BTW, I'm not sure why some are underwhelmed by the 3.6". We're finally getting beyond the 2.8" mistake of the last 3 years, it's a good thing!

4 years ago WinMo had a huge lead in apps, functionality, and price, flexibility.

Now, iPhone's ahead in price, mixed or ahead on functionality (still no multitasking; but multi-touch, 3D, 3rd-party add-ons), and taken the lead in apps (only WM's headstart in older, continuing apps keeps it competitive). Hackability and carrier selection are the only areas of lead now for WM.

I like WinMo. I've spent a lot of $ and time on it. I'd like to get a new WinMo device to leverage that. But...

Why can't I have an upgrade without a downgrade to go along with it?

Why are Windows Mobile devices the only segment of technology that hasn't heard of Moore's law? The driver mess is just adding insult to injury (as if all new PC's came with 486 chips, and they disabled the FPP/GPU on top of it).

It is simply bcoz of gaming needs. I do not understand why U said that those days,WM users are asking for a bad@ss GPU while there is no game created for a bad@ss GPU.
As stated before, the drivers would improve the speed of the OS and applications in general, nto only that, it would save battery life. There are many business applications like Remote Desktop and VNC which requires rendering.

And the Mogul is superior with the 1st gen Iphone? Dude, Mogul has a huge problem with memory. 64Mb killed the mogul. The only reason why people bought it is because of the KB. When Vogue got it's update of 6.1 and GPS, Peolple started selling their moguls aside from the fact that they are gonna lose the physical KB.
I still have a Mogul...Obviously memory is an issue, but if your gonna prick every point, iPhone didn't have 3g when it came out.

U don't think Iphone change the game? Look around. All phones right now resembles what Iphone started. Even the Pre.
Yes..thats called fashion, they set a "fashion" trend...Pre prob resembles a vogue more though..lol

Tell me, B4 the 1st gen Iphone. WHat phone has a multi touch and an accelerometer?
B4 safari, WHat do U use on ur phone to browse? PIE? Opera Mobile non 9.xx version?
I don't care for multitouch....as for browsing, i preferred the old PIE and Minimo...I usually don't need a "full" display and if I did I used remote desktop to use a real browser. Due to lack of video drivers rendering webpages is a hassle.

Quote:
http://www.htcclassaction.org is not created to ask HTC to give U PSP comparable graphics. It's to address HTC decices problems. If U don't have an extensive graphics game to play on ur device. U don't have a problem. The problems with GPU occurs is when a device like the Iphone can play extensive graphics game and HTC's devices cannot.
...have you even read htcclassaction.org? this is what the TILT promised:

Notice games and video is there

Another thing, Any games from the App store can be played from the 1st gen to 3GS. 3GS just play them better. There is no compatibility issues whatsoever.
thats nice but graphic performance wise, my ppc6700 can out perform my mogul :/

Re: Pro 2 is Also missing 3d accelaration. Confirmed!

Take a step back and look at what we have. A phone system bolted onto a solid pocket PC OS. Lot of gum, scotch tape, and sewing to create an experience. What is truely needed is a 100% re-write of the OS which takes the WM platform to a new level. There needs to be a connection at the core of the OS - the reason why HTC has been so successful is because it has woven the connection point between the OS and the phone experience better then Microsoft has done.

With that said, I use my phone as a productivity tool. This is not a gaming device for me - it's a connection device to the MS infrastructure in the backend. While more consumers are demanding a iPhone like device I still crave the capabilities of my phone to connect and play well with the backend that I need it to.

Sure it'd be nice to have 3D acceleration but let's be honest here - what does this do for me? Allow me to play games or show off HDwobble and beer drinking .99 apps? Seriously, not my cup of tea folks.

I commend Ex for putting together a post about HTC's cheapness. I think it's terrible but does it make my decision for buying this phone regretful? Heck no. Simply put it's the best WM device out currently. If one wants / needs more then don't be a slave to your device, choose what works best for you... at the end of the day it's just a tool.

Re: Pro 2 is Also missing 3d accelaration. Confirmed!

It is not only missing 3d acceleration, it is also missing 2d drivers..aka instead of what your cpu is suppose to be doing like processing for your applications, its spending time rendering the graphics. So not only are you crippled by not using the improved GPU. Your CPU is being crippled because it has to process these graphics. Aka you might as well be running at 200mhz >.>

Dont dwell on the gaming. Focus on how overall the device would benefit from the drivers. Camera, Browser, Videos shot with the camera, data transfer front he camera, scrolling, and switching from multitasks. All those areas would greatly be effected with proper acceleration. SO dont dwell on how gaming is the only area that would benefit.

Exactly! But in other ppl eyes your just comparing it to the iphone so you FAIL! Also.. this is the argument they will put against you... "Where does it say we can play Xbox on Pro2?" Silly statements really.. they care less to see the benefits of proper drivers we should have had since the whole cpu switch from the 6700 days to the current duel core crippled ms72xx.
