Re: How To: Configure GPS

Verizon GPS is not locked. Google Maps, Garmin XT and Live Search worked for me right out of the box.

What comm port should we set our apps to in order to get GPS to activate. I tried comm4 on my TP2 and iGO8 but no go.

Re: How To: Configure GPS

My experience so far is that I can only get reasonable GPS lock times out of priming with VZ Navigator.

I came from a Titan and had < 10 second lock times on it almost always, after performing the gpsOne (QPST) changes. So far I have tried many combinations of out of the box QuickGPS, gpsOne (Alltel and Verizon server configs, PDE and Mobile), aGPS, non-assisted, etc. The only way I have been able to get a nearly instant is to download and run VZN 1 day trial. If I close it, running Google Maps, Garmin, etc works fine. Upon reset it doesn't. I haven't tried using AstroGPS yet, but may give that a shot soon.

For those of you getting good lock times (say under 30 seconds), did you ever run VZN? Are you using any other "priming" app? Did you make any changes (gpsOne, advanced config/reg changes, etc)?

After all of the frustration of getting GPS to work on my Alltel Mogul (pre 6.1) I was hoping this would be painless, but so far no go for me.

Thanks!

Re: How To: Configure GPS

I'm on Verizon and my GPS locked within a few seconds out of the box. Today, I entered the gpsONE info for Alltel and turned on assisted gps. Now I'm getting a lock in my house by the time I clear the warning screen on Garmin.

Thanks for the info. To that I can only say for me.

Did you install the Alltel cab as well? In QPST, did you use IP? PDE or Mobile?
