Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers

Someone on another board tried headphones on the ExtUSB jack and said that didn't work either.

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers

The FM Radio does in fact work with the ExtUSB headphones in the Imagio CDMA.
I've seen it. I'm wondering if the FM Radio signal is coming from another piece of hardware in the imagio as opposed to the BCM4325.
It however does not work on the TP2 CDMA, I've attempted to hack it back and forth till next year, and still nothing. It's still on my plate though. I give many thanks to 8notime for this as he provided the unpackaged rom for me to test with.

I was wondering if the Imagio uses the same Broadcom BCM4325 chip as the TP2. Unfortunately, the pertinent FCC docs for the Imagio are under confidentiality until January, so unless someone wants to tear apart an Imagio..... However, I did look through the registry dump 8notime posted, and I did see the same BCM4325 file references, so I'm guessing it uses the same chip.

Does anyone's TP2 actually FIND stations? When I search, it doesn't find anything, but I can manually tune to a station (without any output). This is using the BTFM.exe file in the Windows folder. I haven't tried the HTC FM app. Should the little radio icon in the BTFM app have any bars to indicate it's getting a signal?

Angry Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers

I called HTC America and was asking about the FM Radio. Accouding to HTC, they said that SPRINT requested that the FM Radio be locked and the ONLY way to get it unlocked is for SPRINT to request that it be unlocked, then HTC will release a ROM update for it to be unlocked. I asked if there was a phone that I could get to work on SPRINT's network with all the capabilities that my phone currently has. HTC told me that I CAN NOT purchase any phone outside the US with EVERYTHING TRUELY UNLOCKED that will work with SPRINT. The restrictions are not only the FM radio, but also the Conference Call Room, and the US GSM networks are LOCKED on the phone.

I had then called SPRINT and asked about these features and was shortly sent to ADVANCED TECH SUPPORT. I was told that HTC will not be releasing ANY ROM UPDATE to UNLOCK those features. But, if I wait until October 11th, SPRINT will have a phone that will have these features ready to go and also have the FRONT FACING CAMERA. But sadly the phone will not have any sliding keyboard at all.

"For reference when I say my phone in this post it's to the TP2."
Nope. However the FM Radio.exe that the imagio uses is in fact trying to communicate with the BCM4325. I confirmed this through debug.
I hacked my phone to use the imagios .hcd files, and BCWMInit.dll and still no luck. I installed the imagio FM Radio application to my phone as well. Still no luck. duplicated every single registry entry I found to simulate the imagio's. Still no luck. So I think it's safe to say it's locked in the spl or lower.
So your FM Radio.exe, btfm.exe whatever version your using will not get a signal.
You might get a click out of the speaker, but thats about it. The app is just connecting to the audio gateway. Maybe I'm not doing something correctly, but I'm using everything I know of.

Sprint D2 ? <---That would be nice ! Probably gonna be some "droid" phone. Hmm..
Damn those engineers at HTC. Make it so hard for us.
Even for cmonex and oli as it seems lately.

Re: Touch Pro 2 FM Radio Questions/Answers

FM radio function is included in many recently bluetooth stack, isn't it? If this is true, TP2 may have FM hardware but sprint block it just for FCC compliants or other reason, just like diamond.

It does have the hardware. this whole thread contains a lot of useful information about that fact. however it has yet to be unlocked
