Re: HTC TOUCH PRO 2 SCREEN GOING BLANK and Stays There
Google recognized the problem last week and issued this statement in response to all of the complaints:
Thanks to everyone for responding and confirming that things are back to normal with Gmail IMAP access. We believe the issue was caused by a combination of changes we made to the way Gmail processes IMAP and the way some mail clients (such as Windows Mobile and Android) handled those changes*. About 12 hours ago we rolled those changes back and we've patched things up to make sure it doesn't happen in the future. Thanks for your patience while we got to the bottom of this and our apologies for any inconvenience this issue may have caused. Re: HTC TOUCH PRO 2 SCREEN GOING BLANK and Stays There
I'm experiencing a similar problem too. my screen won't display anything even though the touch works (I can change the volume level by touching the blank screen after pressing volume up/down button (because of the sound que i know its doing it)), which is really odd.
I have the Energy GTX rom for around 4-5 months so far. it was working fine till monday where after making a call i put it in my pocket and it stopped turning on afterwards. (if it makes any difference, i was overseas and had a sim in it but i had no problems using a sim for 2 weeks prior so yeah.) I did the usual, soft reset, nothing. a hard reset, still nothing showing up. but after doing the following countless number of times, pressing the power button & the end button, taking the stylus out, sliding the keyboard, the display suddenly turned on expect after an immediate restart the display stopped working again. I even flashed a new version of the GTX rom in hopes of getting it to work, still nothing. dunno what to do. any suggestions? the flash was done via usb cable and double clicking the customruu.exe file. the phone works as i mentioned above, i can receive calls and pick them up by pressing the phone button. it appears the screen works too, i can launch programs by touching the screen but dunno what's launching since the screen doesn't display anything. thanks. oh, while i had a gmail account on the phone, i had it set to manual refresh and didn't refresh it in a long time. Re: HTC TOUCH PRO 2 SCREEN GOING BLANK and Stays There
I actually went so far as to factory reset my phone. I'm in a situation where I'm not allowed to run a custom ROM (company phone) and my phone was overheating and draining in a couple of hours (as posted before by someone else). I've also been running the stock 6.5 since it came out and haven't experienced the SOD until the 19th or 20th of May.
Gmail does seem to have been the culprit. Oh well. I was still having the issue today, oddly enough. I actually performed the factory reset today at lunch, about 12:30 EDT. |

that sucks, if the phone lasted a month more, it would have been the perfect time to ditch it and get the evo3D. now i gotta get it repaired, at least its only $35. do I need to flash it back to the original sprint rom & relock it or it doesn't matter with the custom rom? |

Re: HTC TOUCH PRO 2 SCREEN GOING BLANK and Stays There
Since the display is not functioning, it should be fine to return as-is.

Re: HTC TOUCH PRO 2 SCREEN GOING BLANK and Stays There
i dont know if anyone has noticed this yet but i have because i have been experiencing the sod problem for a while, i dont not think it has just one cause, i understand that one cause for some ppl maybe bad drivers from different rom releases, for me this is not the case, but what i can say is that my light sensor seems to be busted or not working correctly and this may somehow be the cause, a temporary fix to wake it up i have found, which is quite wierd, is to put a usb cable (doesnt even need to be hooked up to power) and then kind of forcing down and right then pressin unlock, i dont know why it works but it does wake it up, but when i put it to sleep i will have to do it again to wake it up, so i think somethin maybe be shorted in the chargin imput and that is either interfering with the light sensor and that is causing the problem. Because i have also noticed that when i bend the cable in the charger the light sensor becomes responsive again, i think maybe somethin shorts in charger and that makes the light sensor driver hang ??? this is just my info and others having the problem maybe try to see if ur lightsensor is working by using lumos and try using my usb cable wiggle trick to wake it up, (hold the cable forced into different positions and keep pressing wake up), oh yeah, long term fix, switch to android on rhodium, its very stable with the kernel i am using and sod is completely gone

Re: HTC TOUCH PRO 2 SCREEN GOING BLANK and Stays There
I finally experienced this "failure to wake" issue!! Yeah, F'ing rejoice, eh? Power button would not wake up the phone. I'm running 1.31Neo, btw.
After hard resetting to only have the same results, I started experimenting and SOLVED this problem for ME. I'm sure there are more than one cause for this issue, but this worked for me: Step 1: Lay phone on flat surface (table/desk); Step 2: Insert a mini-USB plug into the jack; Step 3: Toggle Power Button to confirm USB Jack is the source of your problem; Step 4: If so, gently push down on plug as you incrementally pull it out of jack while toggling power button each increment. Step 5: With plug all the way out, toggle power button to see if problem is gone. If not, repeat as follows: a. gently push down and slightly to the right during step 4. b. " left during step 4. c. " up d. up and slightly to the right... e. up and slightly to the left... My situation worked with gently pushing down...that was it. Now, works perfectly. |
