been away for a while, ROM advice?

Hi all,

I've been away for a while, thought I was going to move to android but then changed my mind, I just like my TP2 too much lol. Anyway, last time I was here nrfitchett and brooklyncat (thanks again, guys!) helped me out with a couple of ROMs and I've been running one of them for a really long time without even having to reinstall!!! but that was quite some time ago, and now that time has passed...time to reinstall and the computer that had those ROMs is gone (or at least I can't find the stuff).

Can someone help me out and suggest a ROM?

I'm hoping for whatever is the most trouble-free as possible. Don't care at all about eyecandy or games or anything (HATE the moving weather thing). Lightweight/power saving is priority. I don't currently use Sense at all, typically I use the default menu system (not the windows one that revolved like zune but the one where you uncheck Windows Default and HTC Sense and then check the items you want so your upcoming calendar items show on the main screen, not sure what it's called). These are the things that I use most often:
PocketPlayer
PocketShield
Calendar
Contacts
Phone
SMS
Waze
Opera Mini
pnotepad
To do lists
MS MyPhone
Evernote
File Explorer
Camera/Albums
youtube (occasionally)
Instant Messaging (occasionally)

In the past I didn't use tethering but I'd like to be able to on occasion, but I'm not sure what I have to do to set it up.

Any advice is appreciated.

Cecilia

Re: been away for a while, ROM advice?

Ive used Mighty, didnt care for it
ive used energy, (my first flashed rom, i loved it but its a battery killer)
ive also used Sharkie, personally i think its the best tp2 rom, and sharkie is VERY active in his interaction and development
right now im using Sprint Lovers Rom

i would say look around and try new things, ultimatly its your decision, my advice is go with Sharkie if you want something very stable and well built

or Sprint Lovers if you want a very close to Stock rom

both sharkie and the sprint lovers has everything youve listed to the extent of my knowlage

good luck

vins neodium, lead rom are by far the best 6.5 roms out there in terms of simplicity ,eye candy and stability. if u want to get even more simple then u can use either the stock 6.1 rom or the sprint basics 6.1 rom.

Re: been away for a while, ROM advice?

I'm looking for a ROM similar to what Cecilia is looking for, except for US Cellular. If there is a ROM that would maximize the performance and efficiency better than my phone's stock ROM, I'm sold. I've seen Vin's ROM recommended numerous times, but that thread has at least 1,000 pages to it, and I can't figure out where to start.

Does anyone recommend a ROM/thread that will get me in the right direction? I'm doing my best to "lurk" and do it myself, but it's a little overwhelming. Many thanks for your help/advice.

Sounds like you like Titanium (No Sense UI everything in one line) so I recommend you look at those roms. The previous suggestions are great roms but Sharkie doesn't do Titanium. Vin has a Titanium rom. Titanium is the term that was given to the standard WinMo 6.5 Interface.

*This* exactly. I read through a ton of stuff, or at least tried to, before posting this thread. Titanium, neodymium, um, I'm so confused, and I thought I used to spend a lot of time here trying to figure this stuff out, now I have to start all over.

I'd just like to do what I did before, get something simple & mostly trouble-free, I don't care if it's sense ui or not if it works smoothly and doesn't run my battery down in 8 hours. What I have now was working really nicely until recently, it just started spontaneously rebooting (but generally after I've had lots of stuff running) or not connecting to the internet (again, after I've used lots of stuff) and requiring more than one reboot to get it running again, which is a PITA (and I can't silence the ding each time it reboots which is embarrassing).

I think I need to figure out what Titanium *is* before I decide that's what I need to use lolololol is there a dictionary somewhere?

Edit: I don't think it's called Titanium, I looked at some videos and Titanium looks like the Zune interface. The one that I am currently using is super simple, I uncheck Windows Default and HTC Sense and check Date, Calendar, Tasks, Messaging, Pocket Player. Ideally I want my To Do and Calendar items to show up on the screen.

It sounds like you are describing the standard WinMo 6.1 Today Screen now so if that's all you want just go with Scrosler's Sprint Basics Rom or the Sprint Shipped 6.1 Rom and install the GoodThings2Life 6.1 Tweaks cab and you will be good.

Re: been away for a while, ROM advice?

Are ROM's designed for Sprint carrier phones also compatible with US Cellular carrier phones? Does having US Cellular limit ROM options? Finally, may someone direct me to Vin's Titanium ROM, if USCC compatible?

Again, many thanks.

Re: been away for a while, ROM advice?

any CDMA ROM will work on any CDMA carrier as long as u provision it with a provisioning cab.
