Re: So.... TP2 a dead platform?

I too have left my TP2, not directly because of Mike and X, I have wanted one since I got my TP2, they just didn't have the phone I wanted at the time. I may have finally made the plunge because my 2 very good friends did, but they weren't the primary reason. As always, M$ is a little late to the game, not saying that WP7 won't make it, but by that time, imagine where Android will be, Open Source can progress so much faster than a closed source project. And whatever you do, do not refer to me as a fandroid. Just so you know, I've worked on Windoze since 2.0, yeah that was 1989 or so. I've been working with Unix for the same amount of time. I started on Linux back in the early days, read 1992 early 1993. I started programming in 1983, and have even used punch card modems. My TP2 was my first smart phone, I loved the hardware, but disliked the OS, hence coming here and hacking the hell out of it. No matter what I did, it just wasn't what I wanted in a phone. Then I jumped to Android, first via the port for the TP2, then a full blown phone, and I can do what I want with it. Hell, I'm modifying and compiling my own kernels now, and have almost completely converted back to Linux as my primary OS on my computer too. I'm not saying that the TP2 sucks and Android is better, what I'm saying is to each their own, so show some respect to those of us who have given so much and asked so little. Quote:

If you're keeping your tp2, the best thing you can do is learn how to make a kitchen and ROM yourself. Then you won't have to rely on somebody else. The people who really deserve the credit are the developers who make the tools used to dump/build the ROMs.

Re: So.... TP2 a dead platform?
OMG I never said that to be disrespectful to MM &X. their roms still have a few issues that need to be resolved and cuz they moved to android they obviously cant work on the roms anymore. but what i mean is just because the 2 most known cooks have went to android does not mean that WM is finished and that its now time to move to android. theres still some other good cooks for WM like NRG (tho i havent really tried his tp2 roms).

Re: So.... TP2 a dead platform?
I bought a 6700 almost new, after sometime I learned how to flash and cook ROMS. Threw a DCD rom and used it for a long time, a couple months before the TP2 was to be released the mogul gave out on me, it was in pretty bad shape physically, it took a lot of abuse from being in my front pockets, my clothes would crush the corners when I sat down.
I bought the TP2 the week it came out and in retrospect paid a bit too much for it. immediately I installed all the cabs to make it the way I wanted it. Most were eventually bundled in the "allgoodthings" cleanup cab, but my phone ran pretty damn good. I only flashed the vindows rom becasue I wanted more open keybaord screen support, it ran pretty damn good, I think later on I installed too much shit and it scewed up the phone. I also had stopped cleaning it and whatnot with memaid. I decided to flash bigs maxsense rom, which works really well, but doesn't have the sideways support. It's been my experience that HTC's software and windows mobile software just don't get along, this phone lacks the refinement that a complete OS like the android has and I completely understand why a lot of people would go from tp2-EVO, it's a great phone. I want the TP2 to be an awesome phone, which it's a really good phone for me, but the one thing I wish it had was a 1ghz proccesor. The advancement in overclocking has really mafe the phone better, but with maxsese I don't feel the need to OC unless I'm playing a process heavy game. I'm probably gonna go back to vindows rom and try the updated, if that doesn't workout, I know that the 6.1 with cabs runs like a raped ape. I'm definitely sticking with this phone until something comes out that just completely replaces it, I would be perfectly fine with a TP2 that has a faster processor and more of the bugs worked out and 4g (Which by that time should be everywhere). Hell I would be fine with SPBmobile shell, the capabilities of this phone outweigh a "super high quality camera" and some of the other "things" that any of the new phones do. This phone does everything I need it to do and then some, with a keyboard and a good one at that. |

Re: So.... TP2 a dead platform?
jaja ,one of the biggest downsides to having the latest and greatest phones. u rarely hear stories about windows phones being stolen or robbed on the news. so how did it happen?

Guys, keep it civil. No flaming, and don't get personal.
