They kept going back on forth on the specs, so you are correct. From VZW official website:

  • Chipset: MSM7627, 600MHz
  • Memory: ROM 512MB, RAM 256MB
About the only thing it has over a TP2 is the flash, so I stand corrected....or well i'm sitting right now but yea.

Im pretty sure theres gonna be a way to dual boot the Evo since the HD2 pretty much has the same specs. I give it two months or so. Still, no reason to get the new phone without interest right now. Pretty much, if big ass screen and 720p don't win you over, this phone isn't offering much.

I checked out the ally, its nice, but i don't see it being better than my TP2, but i havent seen it in person tho.

@dumpringz, 100bucks? you are one lucky dude lol
any phone that has 480x800 Resolution is capable of 720p (eg TP2,HD2 etc)

Re: The TP2 turned out to be a pretty good phone

For those of us who travel internationally frequently the EVO is still not a viable option if we wish to only have one phone. For that purpose it will still be the best phone on the market for us CDMA users.

720p, meaning 720 horizontal scan lines of display resolution. 1280x720 would be 720p. The HD2 may be able to record video at that rate, but its display is not 720p (nor is any other 480x800 phone)

You can get your phone to play back 720p videos through certain techniques or by re-encoding the file, but it is not built into the software or hardware that comes with the tp2 (or HD2).

Re: The TP2 turned out to be a pretty good phone

I flash my TP2 waaaaaayyyy too much. I love to mess with my phone. One of my daughters (I'm old so my kids aren't teens) has a TP2 as well, totally stock. She doesn't let me flash it. She loves it and doesn't have problems. I think SOME of the issues people have are because they expect something different . Just my opinion.

I have a different daughter who has had sooooo many problems with her Moment, but my husband has never had an issue with his Moment.

I guess my point is phones are weird and your expectations sometimes dictate your experience.

Re: The TP2 turned out to be a pretty good phone

TP2 was a good phone while it lasted. Now there are bigger better things. It has been the best phone I have owned, and although there are flaws, its a pretty great phone all around

I checked it out just now and man does that thing look impressive. Although it looks like a high tech camera that just so happens to have a phone, instead of the other way around. Still, 12mp camera is very impressive
