Re: The TP2 turned out to be a pretty good phone

id much rather see people go crazy about the EVO than the upcoming iPhone, I'd only get the EVO if there was a way to also run wm on it otherwise ill just be sticking to my tp2 till a.similar spec'd windows phone 6.5 or 7 comes out

Not to knock winmo, but its seems like M$ pretty much killed its development by moving on to 6.5. I hope the market place pics up steam, but in not to long, the platforms gonna be dead just to make way for WP7.

Im pretty sure theres gonna be a way to dual boot the Evo since the HD2 pretty much has the same specs. I give it two months or so. Still, no reason to get the new phone without interest right now. Pretty much, if big ass screen and 720p don't win you over, this phone isn't offering much.

I checked out the ally, its nice, but i don't see it being better than my TP2, but i havent seen it in person tho.

@dumpringz, 100bucks? you are one lucky dude lol

Is the snapdragon processor not enough?? Android 2.1 soon to be 2.2? Hardware wise the Ally is much better. The keyboard does not look as good and LG makes a lot of cheap plastic, so we'll have to see how the build is, but so far its looking to be a very powerful device. Hopefully they release that WinMo build that they were discussing as well!

@meatgel - I think you are exactly right with your closing statement (in more than just a cellphone experience as well).

From what I read the Ally is a mid range phone with nothing really that impressive...

eric12341..how is wp7 different then a new iPhone?

-----------------------------

Also the Galaxy S and Pro should come out in summer so at most 3 more month...

They kept going back on forth on the specs, so you are correct. From VZW official website:

  • Chipset: MSM7627, 600MHz
  • Memory: ROM 512MB, RAM 256MB
About the only thing it has over a TP2 is the flash, so I stand corrected....or well i'm sitting right now but yea.

any phone that has 480x800 Resolution is capable of 720p (eg TP2,HD2 etc)

Re: The TP2 turned out to be a pretty good phone

For those of us who travel internationally frequently the EVO is still not a viable option if we wish to only have one phone. For that purpose it will still be the best phone on the market for us CDMA users.

720p, meaning 720 horizontal scan lines of display resolution. 1280x720 would be 720p. The HD2 may be able to record video at that rate, but its display is not 720p (nor is any other 480x800 phone)

You can get your phone to play back 720p videos through certain techniques or by re-encoding the file, but it is not built into the software or hardware that comes with the tp2 (or HD2).
