Re: How's the durability of the TP2 so far?

i hate the front keys they seem so damn cheap. i use the end key more then any of the others and it has gone soft on me as compared to the other keys which are still harder and you can hear the click when you push it

im also scared to slide out the keyboard with a flick and instead gently slide it out (i couldn't come up with better wording at the moment)because it SEEMS like if i did that too much it would get loose and jiggle around which would be a no-no

Re: How's the durability of the TP2 so far?

i have dropped my phone getting out of my car on my driveway directly on the screen. dropped my phone about 5-8 times other than that on tile and wood. i have had nothing break and the slideout keyboard is still nice and stiff. Ive had within a week of the phone coming out to us cellular. In my opinion this is one of the most durable phones ive had.

Re: How's the durability of the TP2 so far?

well compared to most slide out keyboard phones.. this one is deff the best. Ive used the samsung moment ( i traded for this phone ) and that phone was piss poor with keyboard, it was nice in hands, but it would move around and jiggle all over the place, even the orig tilt wasn't good. the touch pro 1 wasn't stiff like this, the crossfire ( not in the same leauge ) wasn't even close.. the droid , endevour, all the ones ive used dont come close to how " sturdy " this keyboard, AND tilt features are.

Go with insurance for sure and you should be fine. As for keyboard, it has been great. No keyboard problems, just the mic and 2 bad screens. Good Luck!
before you have them ship you another TP2...go and talk to the manager of the store...after the 3rd phone replacement they are supposed to give you a "FRU"...basically they will echange out your faulty device with a phone that is comparable in specs to your TP2...I had to go through Verizon this way with my original Blackberry Storm, I ended up getting another brand new one which ended up being the Storm 2.....but thats what they are supposed to do....

That is pretty much what all Cell companys do theses days....

Re: How's the durability of the TP2 so far?

I had a small burn in spot on my screen after 5 months - free replacement

This device has the best keyboard of any mobille device I have ever used - I love this thing

Make sure you check out the fix for the power button - it is great - fixes my biggest annoyance about the device.

I keep my screen covered, but no case - mine held up well.

In the 5 months or so I think I have used the Reset button maybe 10 times and 7 of those are probably from playing with Android.

Re: How's the durability of the TP2 so far?

Got my first in October came stock with 6.1 was absolutely bullet proof. Threw it onto asphault in a Wal-Mart parking lot one night on accident only to scuff the case (hit screen first). Then I installed 6.5 in February, issues began on the first day. After about 2 weeks the phone no longer worked. Verizon sent me out a replacement with 6.5 and it is again bullet proof *knock wood*.

Re: How's the durability of the TP2 so far?

No problems with mine. Had it since May of 09 IIRC. I've had to use the soft reset hold maybe 3-5 times since I had the phone.

Keyboard still feels solid. Mini Usb hole seems snug. No problems whatsoever. Light years ahead of my Tp1.

Re: How's the durability of the TP2 so far?

FWIW: I've had my TP2 since Dec'09 and had NO hardware problems with it.
I use a screen protector but don't use a case and typically just keep it in my pocket, laptop bag, etc. I typically take good care of my stuff, and until last week my TP2 had only very minor signs of light wear.

Last week, I was on an amusement park ride that was spinning and bouncing me in my seat approximately 10 feet off the ground. My TP2 slipped out of my pocket, hit the pavement below me (asphalt), and fell apart. After the ride, I inserted the battery, attached the back cover/stylus, and turned it on. Everything was fine. My bezel has a few battle scars/gashes and my screen protector is scraped (screen isn't) but everything is working fine.

Last night, I was climbing in my garage attic to remove some items and I had to flip myself up into the opening. My TP2 slipped out of my pocket and dropped approximately 9 feet onto the concrete garage floor. Had to insert the battery/cover/stylus again and everything is working fine.

I'm VERY impressed with the durability of my TP2, but I think I'll be more careful about how I carry it in the future.
