how do I know I posted this from it.

my phone has never been unlocked

1 - install - ICS_and_WModem_Fix cab

2 - using a regedit program

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
Extension="" Delete the "isext.dll" entry

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings]
ForceCellConnection="Sprint"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
MaxCMCon=0

[HKLM\Services\CMGuaridan]
Flags = 4 (it's a DWORD Value. if it doesn't exist. you need to create it)

3 - soft reset
4 - Start the Internet Sharing application.
5 - Select Sprint under type of connection.
6 - Hit Connect In the Internet Sharing application.
7 - Connect to the Laptop/PC via USB
8 - Done. No other applications needs to run on the PC/Laptop.

Doesn't work for me with a new phone straight from the store. Not from tools folder ICS or Start menu or after pluging in the cable choosing active sync or Phone as modem. Verified the Registry entries twice. So where did you get this and what version of ROM are you running?

The very first line of the original post (and the thread title) states Sprint stock 6.5 ROM.

I can confirm that this method works. Which ROM are *you* using? When I got my TP2 a month or so ago it did not have 6.5, and I had to update it myself.

It came new from the store with nothing done to it but unlocked and Bing added. So I got it mid-May. WM 6.5 Professional/OS version 5.2.21889 (21889.5.0.87) ROM says ver 2.04.651.4 Date 03/06/10

Interesting, I have the exact same ROM version and date, but my OS version is 5.2.21889 (21889.5.0.87). I flashed it with the ROM found on the HTC website.

a typo, I edited it. Looks like I'll have to do a hard reset or just go straight to a custom rom and hope for the best. It seems that some people have these odd sequences they follow to get it to work.

How about WiFi internet sharing? It's not as fast as cable tethering (I believe) but it may work for you especially in a pinch. I tend to use this more often than the USB tether out of laziness. See my last post in this thread.

What exactly is the error or where you think it's not working?

I got ICS tethering working on mine also by those directions.

You can also try usb tethering with wmodem. A little more complicated but better than ICS in several ways ;)

http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...ght=wmodem+dun

That has instructions on the registry changes and the xp/vista (does work on win7) drivers

instead of getting the wmodem in that thread, get the more updated wmodem that will work on TP2 here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...53#post1783453

A little harder but actually my prefered way.

So there... Let us know if you got anymore trouble. ;)

I hard reset this phone. Then did exactly the steps in first post. Tried Sprint and then "Sprint" and I get error 67 when I try to connect *UNLESS* I get a Opera connection going first.

Seems to be some odd stuff going on how to get it working for you. I used to just fire up ICS from start menu (Mogul and TP1).

It makes a difference which ICS I use now and I have to start a internet sessions first now. A hassle, but whatever, it should get me through the week till I can try out some ROMs at home.--RR

So I just had to share this, today would be my first time using the USB tethering, my cable is down right now and called and talk with them. no ETA so I just plugged up and it just worked. running Mighty's Full force and its great. I do have one question though, can I receive phone calls while I am doing this?

you can receive calls but your datastream will be paused as it switch to 1X. If pause is long enuf your download will timeout.

You can txt also. It will momentarily go to 1x also but not usually a prob since txt is so fast
