Re: how to usb tether on sprints 6.5 stock rom

Okay, I performed a hard reset, not a clear storage.
I installed the cab you have linked to, nothing else.
I installed PHM regedit and did the edits exactly as you listed.
Still I only have <none> in the dropdown menu.
The only difference I see is that you have written:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
MaxCMCon=0

My phone has:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
MaxCMConnectRetries=0

Everything else is exactly as you recorded.

I even tried entering Sprint in 2 different ways.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings]
ForceCellConnection="Sprint"

and:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings]
ForceCellConnection=Sprint

This is a real puzzler to me.
Thanks for your time.

Re: how to usb tether on sprints 6.5 stock rom

I had the same exact issue as you. I didn't have:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
MaxCMCon=0

so I created it as a DWORD.

I still had none listed in the network connection. So go to menu > tools > internet sharing. There should be no network selection option here. I chose usb and then connected and it worked.

how do I know I posted this from it.

my phone has never been unlocked

1 - install - ICS_and_WModem_Fix cab

2 - using a regedit program

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
Extension="" Delete the "isext.dll" entry

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings]
ForceCellConnection="Sprint"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
MaxCMCon=0

[HKLM\Services\CMGuaridan]
Flags = 4 (it's a DWORD Value. if it doesn't exist. you need to create it)

3 - soft reset
4 - Start the Internet Sharing application.
5 - Select Sprint under type of connection.
6 - Hit Connect In the Internet Sharing application.
7 - Connect to the Laptop/PC via USB
8 - Done. No other applications needs to run on the PC/Laptop.

So, I tried this, but when I start the Internet Sharing application, the only connection I can choose is "none." Any thoughts?

I have the HTC WiFi working via these instructions. But, I'd really like to be able to do it the old fashioned, wired way, too.

Re: how to usb tether on sprints 6.5 stock rom

I just followed almost all the steps of the OP on post 1 and it worked!!!
thank you

When it came to the 3rd registry value, there was no value:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing]
MaxCMCon=0

in that folder, but rather in the folder [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\InternetSharing\settings]
maxCMConnectRetries=0

so I figure its the same thing and I left it alone without creating this key value.

Works like a charm

thanks

BooBoo- what exactly does the ICS fix cab do? thanks in advance

replaces (or adds):

intshare.dll
ipnat.dll
IntShrUI.exe
and a shourtcut to the 3rd file...

It also make the following regedits...
HCR
intsharuiapp + sub-regedits

HLM
-Comm
--BT (bluetooth settings)
--tcpip
--Connection sharing
-Software
(more BT settings..)

Seems to be like a lot of extra stuff in there...

And you're definitely not being charged extra for PAM? I'll have to try that. I assumed I had to create the new entry, like I did for the TP1. I'll give this a try.

Thanks.

Where is the option created by the ICS cab? Does it look different?

Re: how to usb tether on sprints 6.5 stock rom

A pitfall that makes tethering confusing for the Touch Pro 2 with WM65 and Sense 2.5, was that if you select the Internet Sharing from the Sense 2.5 pop-up (just after connecting the USB cable), "tethering will not work".

However, if you select Active Sync then go back and use the Internet Sharing from the Start/Tool folder, then "tethering does work".

I searched the registry to see if it had any entries for IntShr.exe, but it did not. I do not know what Sense 2.5 is doing to cause it's choice to not work. Although the Sense 2.5 choice looks exactly the same as Tools/Internet Sharing, it does not work.
