I had my slider replaced once for the rainbow thing, and the phone replaced 3 times after that... Refurb, NIB, Refurb.

It is going to keep happening with this type of screen if you cary your phone in your pocket.

I have a dead spot on my phone. It's a big deal but not... I use the keyboard now. I will trade it when the time comes.

The Problem is i have NEVER carried my phone in my pocket. Its always in a case, and even when i drive, I've had it on the seat rather then on my belt so that the seatbelt doesnt put pressure on it. The only thing i can account for this happening is that the phone got hot while streaming music, and charging it and a few other apps running.

I was downloading a new ROM thinking that would help
there wasnt any need for that

Tips to avoid heat and pressure which causes this problem on our phone:
if in pocket, face screen out.
If streaming or GPS, slide screen open,
Do not use solid screen protectors that can warp and cause pressure,
especially when wiping to clean surface.
Only use soft flexible protectors like "BestSkinsever" or "zagg invisishield".

Lastly try a custom rom that runs cooler,
SOme run hotter due to what combination of version stuff cooked into it.
I can only vouch for "Vinn neodium/Plutonium" and Sharkie roms,
but that's not to say that's all, of course there are others,
the key is making note of the ones that last longest on battery,
those are also the coolest running.

I can verify that gently lifting the digitizer and replacing it can cause the touch screen to begin responding again.
