Why not just Windows XP on these new phones....That would be better then any mobile OS out there right now and we would not need to wait for programs to be developed for mobile systems.....I am sure with the new devices coming out they can run it. Even Windows 98 would offer more features. A full version of IE with all it's plugins would be worth it alone!
I think the reason for naming the next gen of OS Windows Phone is that they are trying to stay away from the Windows Mobile as a PPC.

The VP of MS said over and over that "Windows Phone is not a PC"
While when we say WIndows Mobile, it's the Mobile version of the Windows desktop.

I wouldn't say there OS is a mobile version of there PC. They are not even close and really have nothing in common. 3rd party developers make better versions of there mobile office programs. There mobile browser is the worst browser then everything else out there. I do not think I even launched it once in the past year. It is far from desktop IE.

If they put XP on a phone, they can then call it the most mobile computer in the world and no other mobile device would be able to even come close to that.

They only sell components for a PC when the company grew bigger. They did not make the components at first. They brand it.

No different than any hardware company? Qualcomm for example will ask somebody else to make their CPU? Nvidia will ask somebody else to make their Video cards?

What I said is point on. WHat you said is completely bogus.
Qualcomm is not a hardware company, they are a chip company.

By your logic, there is no such thing as a hardware company. HTC is using qualcomm components so they aren't manufacturing it themselves. Sony has all sorts of 3rd party components in their tv's...

By the way- like I said, Microsoft has made hardware since at least the 1990's, and probably before then. If you disagree with that, then you are the one with the bogus posts. Anyone who has ever been to the Redmond Campus can visit Microsoft's little museum and see tons of hardware Microsoft has put out over the years.

I am typing this on a Microsoft keyboard that I have had for several years, by the way, and using a Microsoft mouse that I bought back in like 2000.

In fact, here's a link for you:
http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/25thanniversary.mspx

Copy and paste from that link:
"Microsoft Hardware was formed in 1982 to develop a device that would help people use the company’s new word processing program."

So they have been making hardware since 1982. That means you were wrong.

They don't need to be exactly similar. Bcoz they are desktop and mobile. The hardware is significantly different.

So the mobile version of OSX is the Iphone's OSX. WHat will be the Mobile version of Windows? I put OSX Leopard on my UMPC. Is my UMPC the mobile version of OSX?

Who cares if you have something called a mobile version. If I could run a full OS on my mobile device, who would I ever need a mobile version of it. I wouldn't consider the iPhone a mobile version of OSX. Nobody looks at an iPhone as a mobile version of a mac. They are nothing alike nor do they try to be.....Windows mobile tries to be a mobile version of there full OS.

So if you can run a full version of XP on your mobile phone, you would rather not and run mobile 7......Not me.

Qualcomm is not a hardware company. I dont know where this dude is getting his info. I stopped reading after the first sentence.
Microsoft started in 1975. I said that when they "started"

Yes, Microsoft started in somebody's garage in 1975. In 1982, when they started making hardware, nobody had heard of Microsoft.

Ignore me if you want. I would prefer it actually. That way I don't have to worry about you responding to my posts with more of your nonsense.

You were wrong, bottom line. You said Microsoft wasn't a hardware company. I just posted a link from microsoft's own site that said they have been making their own hardware- inventing it even, not just using other components, since 1982.

And, again, anyone who has ever been to the Redmond Campus already knows this because Microsoft has a museum there with a bunch of their own hardware on display. They also have a company store where you can buy tons of microsoft hardware.

Iphone OSX is the lite/stripped version of OSX. OK?

Desktop OS'es are too heavy and requires a lot of power. It cannot be an OS for a phone. Win 7 requires at least 10 gig of storage to install. We only have mostly 512mb of ROM on our phones.

You were still wrong. And it was proven, for all to see. Just because you hide from the truth doesn't make it any less true.
