What do you think of Windows Phone 7?

For those of you who don't know about wm7 you can find more info here... http://www.windowsphone7series.com/

I have mixed feelings about windows phone 7 from what I've seen.
Are you planning on getting a wm7 phone when available, switching to android or another os or sticking with wm6.5.

From my standpoint, if Android gets better Exchange support, I will go in that direction. If not, WM7 will be the target.

I'm not sure about Nexus One, but My Touch doesn't necessarily have a better support for Exchange.. Two of my users have My Touch and both had to buy apps like Touchdown to connect to Exchange as Activesync Push for Exchange failed to work. Perhaps due to the fact that I locked down POP/IMAP ports and installed SSL cert that is not one of those root certs....User had to buy Touchdown ap in order to get the phone to connect to Exchange. Then after returning form vacation his Touchdown app stopped working. User later bought another ap that seemed to work. I was very disapointed with TMO My Touch Activestink Push for Exchange, that was the whole idea to connect to Exchange and use Activesync. I really can't say that Android phones can replace WinMo as they are not quite there when it comes to business phones. The fact that it wouldn't connect to Exchange when Activesync for Exchange is already on the phone, that`s just crappy in my opinion.
Android is somewhat like an iPhone I guess, more of a toy then a bus. tool.
Sorry, didn't mean to step on anybody`s toes, just sharing my experience with Android.

Re: What do you think of Windows Phone 7?

Considering SDK information not released yet, and what we saw was an early build, it's too early to tell. But what I saw impressed me and for me, unless Microsoft pulls some idiotic move, it's WP7S for me.

Side note, I am calling it WinMo 7. The name MS gave it can go suck a big one.

Re: What do you think of Windows Phone 7?

As most Windows Mobile hardcore users, i'd feel bad if I didn't "give it a chance". So when the TP2 successor is out with WM7, i will give it a shot. if it's not to my liking, i'm hoping something else grabs me in a good way that can meet my needs.

Re: What do you think of Windows Phone 7?

Hate it.

The zune interface is effective and simplistic for a media player, but it is not detailed enough for a smartphone. In my opinion, WM7 looks like a dumb-phone with an S-Class UI or something similar.

It's incredibly obvious who MS is competing with and that is such a turn-off for me. If I wanted an IPhone, I would buy one. Microsoft has completely lost my loyalty with this latest iteration.

I like my phone to be customizable in every way so that I can make it my own.

I like my phone to be able to have multiple apps open at once.

I like my phone to be able to run an app developed by ANYONE.

I like my phone to allow me more control over it's functions.

I like my phone NOT TO HAVE APP HEADER TEXT CUT OFF THE SCREEN.

Everyone can call it "innovative" all they want, but to me they can keep it and I'll gladly jump to Android.

As far as i can tell, they haven't said either way on customization, or multitasking or non marketplace apps. With htc saying they are bringing a unique user experience to WP7, there is hope for customization.
