Re: Is Windows Mobile Vanishing?
you are 100% correct. No matter what happens with winmo 7, android will be the biggest smartphone os after this year. apple, blackberry, nor winmo can stop it. Everybody keeps saying winmo is for business users blah blah, pretty soon android will have those business apps and consumer friendly apps then everyone will fall off. android is the new iphone and we all know how big the iphone is. winmo 7 isn't dead but after another year it won't be able to touch android. I personally will stick with winmo as long as i start seeing develpers support them. But just because us ppcgeeks will stick with windows doesn't mean the rest of the world will, especially here in the US.

http://www.electronista.com/articles....of.sidekicks/ Now I see the project pink, but according to Engadget, it will be geared towards teens and 20 somethings. For me, I dont fit into this category. You are right that Android is trying to catch up, but the way it looks, it wont take long before they do. In fact, posted 55 minutes ago at 9:09 pm which was WAY after my post this morning, I am reading this... http://www.itworld.com/mobile-amp-wi...hone-slot-2013 "In the report, IDC's crystal ball is figuring that from the meager beginnings of 690,000 Android units in 2008, there should be 68 million Android-based devices on the market by 2013, putting in second place on the mobile device market. That's a compound annual growth rate of 150.4 percent, for those of you keeping score at home." "While news from IDC doesn't specify the fate of Blackberry and Windows Mobile, it would be more than fair to guess that Blackberry has been taking (and will continue to take) a beating from Apple's iPhone and the smaller number of apps, compared to iPhone and even now, Android." "As for Windows Mobile, it's been virtually invisible on the mobile scene, having been distinctly absent from the CES show in Vegas earlier this month. There's been some buzz lately around Windows Mobile 7, but mostly with Microsoft's Robbie Bach (President, Entertainment & Devices Division) talking smack about Android at CES rather than promote WM7. Maybe it's my Midwestern upbringing showing, but if you have to trash talk a competitor before your product is even near launch, that strikes me as being less-than-confident about your work." Did someone read my post about this topic and write about it? lol Last edited by quickstang; 01-25-2010 at 11:14 PM. |

Re: Is Windows Mobile Vanishing?
First of all keep in mind that windows mobile is already has one of the smallest marketshares anyways. iphone pretty much dominates the mobile market in the US followed by Android... with winmo bringing up the rear. I've already jumped ship... after flashing tons of different roms and doing all the tweaks etc, the just doesnt appeal to me anymore. And i've been with winmo since the mogul, had the vogue and the tp1. But honestly mobile technology is just going so far and beyond what winmo has to offer I just couldnt even see myself buying another winmo phone.
I still have the tp2 mainly because im on an advantage plan and only pay $20 a month for my sprint line.. but I bought an iphone 3gs 32gig and honestly my tp2 has been collecting dust since I got it. People can bash the iphone all they want, but having both... i love the iphone. They really werent lying when they said th get it up there's an app for that because there are apps for pretty much everything. Best part about it was I didnt have to hack the hell out of it just to get it to an acceptable speed. I will probably keep my tp2 active until that sprint android phone comes out later in the year but I think im pretty much done with winmo. I dont even bother flashing roms anymore. |

Yeah, there's an app for that alright, lol. Good luck tethering or watching a sling box... Also, good luck using something as simple as an instant messenger since you can't multi task... Last edited by BlackDynamite; 01-25-2010 at 11:35 PM. |

Having both, the iphone is WAY faster, a LOT more responsive and does pretty much everything I need. I expect the iphone bashing here since folks are so pro winmo but I have no alliance to an OS.. I have an alliance to the OS that works the best and at this point thats not winmo. Last edited by brownhornet; 01-25-2010 at 11:46 PM. |
