um.... i just flashed to stock temporarily and sprint 6.1 and text messaging still reads 2016......

SO Im running mightyrom Void. Whats the best fix for it?
It is definatly still doing it for me.
Outgoing texts read correctly but incoming texts show 2016.

It isn't clear which CAB I should install if I have a stock Sprint HTC Touch Pro 2 with the 2016 bug. Can someone please clarify/link me to the correct CAB? Thanks.

It appears that Telus has finally posted an official fix for this SMS issue on the HTC site:

I don't know what's different about this fix and the reg edit posted by Ziggy471.
According to the download description, it also fixes past 2016 dated texts.

One other thing, I'm not sure what they mean by:
"If any software was installed to bypass the Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist (MCTS) functionality of the device, the device may need to be hard reset prior to this hotfix being installed."

The 6.1 cab, actually the rilphone in the cab is from the official Sprint 6.1 fix.

When I installed the CAB to the default location on my device (not the storage card), nothing popped up about it installing. Was there supposed to be an install dialog box, or do I need to place the CAB in a certain location on my device?

Looks like the official Sprint version is working for me, connecting my device to my computer using Missing Sync for Apple OS.

I downloaded the two fixes in the original post. I ended up having to go to the Sprint store and have them do a hard reset on the phone. I just wanted to see if anyone else had this issue. It was awful-my phone was basically just a PDA. I had no texting, no phone, no internet. The phone radio was turned off and I wasn't able to turn it back on. Needless to say, I will just have to deal with the 2016 until Microsoft develops something else. I am NOT going to deal with that again. Thanks for responding though.

Ziggy, I am debating the need to install the Official Sprint hot fix at this time. Your 2016 Final cab is sufficient for my needs (thanks again) - I would like to have back the original "sent" timestamp, but not at the expense of a hard reset. I'm on stock 6.1, but have several cabs installed that tweak the Windows functionality - and that worries me. There is a notice there that WM 6.5 will be made available in another couple of months. Would you care to speculate if this hotfix will be "part" of the 6.5 update? If so, I'll wait till then, as I'm more willing to do the hard reset at that time to gain 6.5.
