So then you think GSM is the same as CDMA, just a different radio, right?

CDMA IS the radio. That IS what makes the network. WiMax is something different entirely. It has absolutely nothing to do with CDMA.

Again, Verizon is going with LTE. AT&T is also going woth LTE. LTE is the alternative to WiMax. So are you going to tell me GSM and CDMA are both the same thing, just different radios- since they are both LTE? And WiMax is the same thing as all of them, since either of them could have went with WiMax instead (as Sprint did)?

it is different hardware, it works differently, and it's an entirely different network.

Look here man:

There are at least 10 GSM devices for every CDMA device on that list (probably even more). You want to talk exclusives, that is just the facts there. Now, tell me, how can you look at that list and say you have an open mind, and yet claim CDMA is even in the same stratosphere when it comes to the number of smartphones- let alone actually claiming they get more. Utterly ridiculous.
For the last time. I am referring to the US market. Say it with me, U-N-I-T-E-D S-T-A-T-E-S. If the question were "Are you willing to go to a different country to get XX phone or are you willing to get raped on the price you pay to import a phone with no US 3G support?" then you'd have a point.

Is that just personal experience or is there some hardcore research when it comes to that. Honestly, it's still like metric vs. English, because you might just be looking at the US.

No 3G support? I thought you can easily get 3G support when you've gone to other countries. I've read that numerous times.

What he's saying is that all the phones (Sprint and Verizon) will still have CDMA radios in addition to the data radio (LTE or Wimax). For this reason, device manufacturing won't really change. Why must you continue to twist things?

I'm referring to an overseas device used here in the states. Most all of them DO NOT SUPPORT either the 3G bands used here. The HD2 for instance, uses 2100MHz and 900MHz for 3G. However, AT&T is either 850MHz or 1900MHz 3G and T-Mob is 1700MHz. So, sure, you could import the device, but you aren't going to get anything faster than EDGE.

Where's the proof that network reliability and speeds are faster? I've dropped like 2 calls in 6 years. And speed varies by location since I'm at varying distances from towers.

This speed test that was done recently that found AT&T to be the fastest makes no sense. You can't just randomly pick a location and expect them all to be similar speeds. There's varying distances from towers. Although apparently they have more advanced technology.

And in coverage in the US, of course CDMA rules that because of Verizon. But they expanded the hell out of the coverage and are dumping the cost on the consumers afterward.
