Re: Going from Omnia ti TP2, will I be happy?

I had my Omnia and switched to the TP2, you're gonna love it. I do miss the camera and flash, but other than that, I haven't looked back at all. All around I think it's a better phone, the radio for me personally works much better, although I'm also on Sprint with the TP2 so there's obviously a difference with the signal but even side by side comparison, I feel the TP2 has a better radio and sounded much better.

Re: Going from Omnia ti TP2, will I be happy?

I owned an Omnia prior to the TP2. I remember when I got the Omnia I could not believe the stylus was on a lanyard and to use the FM radio or earphones you had to attach a cable! I've been using the TP2 for over a month, it has been the best phone I've ever owned! The keyboard is wonderful, much more responsive and I like TF3D much better than the widgets. The camera is not that big a deal to me, would like the flash though. You will enjoy the TP2.

Re: Going from Omnia ti TP2, will I be happy?

So far so good, I am very happy with my TP2...just miss my massive amounts of storage. Does anyone know a way to free up a little bit of memory? sitting idle it is using around 69%. I know my omnia had less memory in that department, but I am about to load some apps that could be memory hogs and I just want to be prepared.

Re: Going from Omnia ti TP2, will I be happy?

Are you planning on flashing to a custom ROM? I assume so since you flashed constantly on your Omnia and if so, you shouldn't have issues. There are some barebones ROM's, I'm currently running Mighty's 1219 with a bunch of apps loaded and have never had an issue with memory, even with many of them on device. I was concerned about that as well when I came over from the Omnia but the fears were unwarranted.

Re: Going from Omnia ti TP2, will I be happy?

Actually, it looks like work is going to make me stay with the stock rom. I took a 2nd job that requires a propriatary WinMo application that may get screwed up on a custom rom, and honestly, I need the money more then I need a custom rom, so it looks like I am staying stock.

There are a number of tweaks to free up memory. If you search here and at XDA, you'll find a number of suggestions. Look at the stickies here.

One of the tweaks is to disable push in Opera. Look HERE for how to tweak that.

Re: Going from Omnia ti TP2, will I be happy?

I, too, went straight from the Verizon Omnia to the Verizon TP2. While the Omnia was a really good phone after a fair amount of flashing and tweaking, the TP2 fills a lot of gaps where the Omnia fell short.

You should feel confident that you made a good choice

I love my Omnia, but I've heard the TP2 is faster, more responsive, and just all around nicer, but I just wanted some direct feedback. Any info would be greatly appricaited

I was in the exact same situation that you're in.

I had an Omnia, but once the Touch Pro 2 was announced for Verizon I just had to have it.

Despite the Touch Pro 2 having a slightly slower processor it is actually faster than the Omnia.

I absolutely love my Touch Pro 2 and I'm very happy with my decision to switch. I think you'll be more than happy with one too.

Re: Going from Omnia ti TP2, will I be happy?

That's interesting that it has a slower proc...IMHO, the TP2 is hands down faster then the Omnia, even with the stock rom. The good news is, the wife likes the TP2 much better. I used to hear profanity that would make a Drill Sgt blush every time she tries to use the phone, even if I had MS3 or had flashed to WinMo 6.5. She doesn't mind using it now. I'm also loving the touch screen, it seems to be 1000x more responsive then the Omnia...I always thought I was going to put my finger through the screen, whereas the TP2 is responding to the lightest of touches. So far I am very happy.
