Going from Omnia ti TP2, will I be happy?

So work is making me upgrade to a phone with a keyboard. I'm currently using an Omnia, and have been pretty happy with it. Looks like with Verizon, the only choice I have is to go to the TP2, and I was just curious if anyone else made the transition from Omnia to TP2 and if they were happy with their new phone?

I love my Omnia, but I've heard the TP2 is faster, more responsive, and just all around nicer, but I just wanted some direct feedback. Any info would be greatly appricaited

Re: Going from Omnia ti TP2, will I be happy?

i havent tried the Omnia, but i do obsess over all these WM phones. The TP2 is in my opinion the best in the US. Omnia UI is laggy and i'm not a fan of its resolution.

You'll probably get more customizable use out of an HTC device, especially if you like flashing custom ROMs. Plus WVGA is the new standard regarding resolution, so you'll enjoy that. TP2 has a giant screen and fantastic keyboard. I think you'll enjoy it after you get used to the added bulk.

Re: Going from Omnia ti TP2, will I be happy?

Ive never owned one, but my buddy does. Back when I had the original TP, the two benefits the omnia had over the TP was the 5mp camera, and the fact that it didnt overheat or lock up nearly as much. With the TP2, theres no contest that the TP2 has more refined hardware. It doesnt get hot, rarely locks up, longer battery life, the speakerphone is incredible and the keyboard is pretty sweet. My only complaints are them not carrying over the flash, and the camera isnt as good as the TP.

I had an Omnia and jumped to the TP2. I agree with everything above wholeheartedly.

Cool deal. I use it for work almost 100%, and the new helpdesk app for some reason won't work with an on-screen keyboard, but it sounds like I made a good choice. Thanks all for the advice, the new phone arrives tomorrow so I will let you all know what I think!

Re: Going from Omnia ti TP2, will I be happy?

I never owned an Omnia, but played with my Gf's extensively. I found the Omnia (on Verizon) to be incredibly laggy. Had it been my phone, I would have put several rounds into it a long time ago.

You'll find an incredible difference with the TP2. To says it's faster is one helluva understatement!

Re: Going from Omnia ti TP2, will I be happy?

You will LOVE you new TP2!!! I went from the TP1 to the TP2 and even though they have the same internal parts, the TP2 runs MUCH smoother and faster than my TP1. Congrats on the upgrade.

About the only thing you'll miss from the Omnia is the 5MP camera.

had an omina before the touch pro 2. The things that I liked about the omina are better on the touch pro 2. The problems i had with the omina are not on the Touch pro 2. The screen rotation on the omina was slow and happened when I didn't want it. The tp2 doesn't do the useless screen rotation and is a lot faster. A bigger screen and the touch flo is a heck of a lot better than the widgets that omnia had. The first thing that you should do when you get the tp2 is install the programs that free up memory on the phone. Unless you use the "push pages" it is better to turn it off and it frees up a lot of memory.

I owned the original Omnia and find my TP2 to be leaps and bounds more intuitive and functional. The TP2 is really a wonderful phone.
