Re: Should JUICY cook HTC messaging back into R6 ?

Personally I like htc messaging and I use it. The mms thing.. its just lazy as hell not to be able to make a click on start, another one on internet and one on messaging to be able to get to them.

Re: Should JUICY cook HTC messaging back into R6 ?

It annoys the hell out of me to see some punks here ordering those who do not agree with their self righteous views to go elsewhere or to cook their own ROMs.

Here's my understanding of things...
Generally, when a ROM goes into Initial/Beta/Private Release, its Chef expects to receive FEEDBACK to improve the ROM. Even after the first public release, the chef is constantly trying to improve the ROM with modifications that address new developments and public feedback. With few such cycles, the ROM becomes stable and the chef earns the well deserved respect for all that hard work that is needed to reach that stage.

Now, if you believe that the ROM you are releasing is private and you are not going to be listening to what the public says, then a public forum release is probably not the right place for it. Even worse, sometimes it's not the chefs that are adamant about asserting that no one else has any say in the making of the ROMs, but the fans who assume that their chefs would not have it any other way.

In this case here, between HTC client and WM, Juicy has acknowledged the lack of consensus here and has gracefully remained unbiased towards either choice. If the chef himself has no problem with different opinions, why are some punks here asserting that the ROM is chef's and the public has no say on it? Asking those who disagree to go away and cook their own ROMs is simply wrong, especially when you are not the chef of the ROM in question.

We disagree, fine. But being bitter about those who don't agree with you, please stop the nonsense. I agree that we all can have different opinions, but we don't have to be so bitter about it.

And see if that works to you liking. I do a little extra with looking at the registry and all, but start off with that and see if you enjoy.

Ok after working all night to get this working like normal, i finally have a easier fix.

1st flash r6 and hard reset for a clean install. Then make sure you install the provisioning cab for you carrier.

2nd install the Htc Messaging client included in the original post, soft reset.

3rd Use CeRegEditor, and change the local/system/inbox/externalaccounts/sms to local/system/inbox/externalaccounts/sms.htc.

Thats it! Works like it was cooked it. You can view you mms by clicking on the incoming message and then hit all messages and it will take you the native client, or just hit the email icon. And you can send text messages thru the manila client like before but will the lag or freeze up. I have sent 30 test messages to get this right.

The only issue im having with R6 is that the Youtube app is hit or miss with volume. One second it works, then next no volume. Works thru opera everytime tho? Weird?

Re: Should JUICY cook HTC messaging back into R6 ?

My opinion is for sprint the mms out of the box is nice...

htc messaging is slow and def buggy...

my opinion is i have a taskbar to show me notifications...remapped a soft key to texts..and removed the manilla txt tab. problem solved and i have 100% working mms.

again my opinion only but im satisfied.

How about we just lock this thread and let Juicy cook his rom the way he wants? This has to be one of the most pointless threads I've seen in a while.

You obviously have all the answers. I guess I should have started a "which rom is best" poll as this thread is apparently more "pointless" than one of those. I should be ashamed for trying to help.

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.7 (WindowsMobile; PPC; Opera Mobi/35541; U; en; Presto/2.1.1))

How is this thread helping anyone? If I were Juicy I would be offended someone made a thread about my rom complaining about how it needs something back. Im sure he gets enough complaints on this doesnt work and that freezes... Instead of making a poll why not have someone make a cab to re activate manila sms?
